conflicting advice/other health probs

I won't have a definitive dx till sx and biopsy, but am getting conflicting info from different heath providers.  It's hard enough to be told you have microcalcifications that are suspicious, but to be told different info from different providers makes a decision very difficult!  Feb. 14, 2008, I was hospitalized with gangrenous gallbladder and due to complications from sx, I ended up in ICU for 12 days.  During this time, I was dx with GERD, grade D esophogitis, celiac disease, IBS, liver failure, potassium that fell to 0 and low protein among other problems  My only vices are cigarrettes and coffee, both of which I am supposed to quit, although I've limited both.  I was finally getting back on my feet and ready to work when I had a suspicious mammo in Sept followed by ultrasound in Oct.  The radiologist recommended a lumpectomy ASAP and it was scheduled 12/18.  The surgery was postponed to 1/15 and during the wire loc and mammo, they found the calcifications had spread throughout the breast.  My oncologist wanted to wait til April for another mammo.  The BCC program social workers strongly disagreed and thought mastectomy would be the best decision.  I feel that is good advice even though an agonizing decision.  Why so many conflicting info?  Why the dishonesty?  The only person i've trusted is the social worker with BCC and when I asked her opinion she said she would go with the mastectomy (why take any chance)  Just spouting but really wondering if anyone has had the same experience?  I would really appreciate any and all feedback!!!   p.s. newbie to chat and forums so forgive any mistakes.

    emw:

I'm not the right person to advise you, about the questions you raise, but you need to edit your initial post to remove your e-mail address.  This is a public forum which is scanned by spammers...they can and will collect your address and put you on spam lists!Tongue out

This board does have a private message system, and (if you set up your profile that way), you will get an e-mail that you have a new PM (private message) here.  You can read and send PMs by clicking on the black tab titled "Private Messages" on the right at the top of each page.

Just don't want you to have to deal w/ a flood of e-mail spam along w/ everything else!

emw...For what it's worth, I'll just say that if I were in your place, I'd insist that the arera of the densest calcs be biopsied. It sounds like, to date, no one has said that you have cancer, so WHY would you simply have a mastectomy? Sounds like it's jumping the gun or huge overkill to me. Find out definitively what is in there and you can then make an educated, informed decision. A mastectomy isn't like removing a hangnail.
