Thinking Out Loud.....

Deb I used to audit nursing homes and have also spent a couple of months in one when I was recovering from pancreatitis. I got great care but I was mentally alert. The staff on the wing I was on really cared and tried but the whole facility was understaffed and there were many areas where the staff was not so dedicated. Unfortunately most places patients who can't complain and who have no one monitoring their care tend ot get inadequate care and the main reason is short staff.
Thee are some very good facilities but they can be hard to find. One thing I would look for when choosing a place, in addition to the usual criteria, is the facility with a high private pay census compared to state pay patients. The higher the better.

If he ends up in a nursing home, he will have to go on Medicaid and have the government pay for him. He does not make enough money with his SS and retirement, he is also getting VA pension with aid and attendance but the VA will stop once he is in a nursing home, I pray that does not happen. The nursing/ rehab he was in is run by Geneses Healthcare, they are suppose to be good. Not in my opinion. When someone throws up common sense would say rinse out the clothes. They just rolled everything in a ball and when I went to do the laundry at home, it all fell on the floor and he must of had a virus because a few days later I got violently ill. Then my DD got sick then my DH. I was soooo pissed at them.
They took their time getting to him when he pressed the button for help, that he ended up soiling himself, wouldn't you think they would try to get to him faster rather then having to change him and the sheets. Dumb asses!!! I hate that place. Another place he was in would only shower patients once a week, that is awful. He smelled so bad all the time made me sick.

I am so sorry, Deb.....

Deb, I'm so sorry. I agree, Dementia sucks big time.
Chris, don't shovel, you are going to get hurt. It will melt, it's going to be in the 40's after the storm.
My laptop is having problems again. Power cord is NOT working so if I disappear, you know why!
Ducky, why weren't you at the gym today??
-
Makratz.................I think my daughter finally realized what a pain in the ass she was being, and let me alone...........................well at least for now...................she has been walking on her lunch hour at work..................thank God I retired from the same company she works for..........she would be dragging me out of the building with her.
We both worked for GlaxoSmithkline (Pharma), I retired years ago to take care of my grandson, so another daughter (works for the same company), could go back to work............she would not put him in daycare, and I was on social security, and was doing part-time, so she just paid me to watch her son,..........................it was a great "gig".................got paid to do something I wanted to do for "nothing", but she said if I didn't do it, she would quit her job and stay home..........she had a much better job then I had, so I agreed to her demands..........which was to get paid, to do something I loved".........................who can say that...............I did it for 2 years and then his sister was born, and I watched her too..........even got a raise in pay.......haha...........I did it until they both were full time students, and then just went to get them off the bus..............of course I did take care of them all summer, and still do...................now my grandson says "Mom, I can let myself in, and wait for "DAD", I don't need "NAN" anymore to come over......................but I do go for the 11 year old just a little later.............................my daughter doesn't trust them together, although I think they would be fine...............Makayla (the 11 year old)............can be a handful.............Sean the (13 year old)..................is no prob lem at all.............but together, who knows................
It does help break up the day...............I am bored out of my skull, and I hate winter and the cold weather.
Ok, don't say it.............................go to the gym........................screw that idea, and the person who thought it up......................hahahahaha.....................................again, I get 10 miles per gallon on the SUV, I drive, and it is about 3 miles each way to the gym....guess the "mother, daughter" deal wasn't so bad after all........................hahahahahhahahaha.
-
LOL Ducky. GREAT reson to not go to the gym. I have a SUV that gets 10 mpg too, but we never drive it. When I don't feel like going, I will take the truck! LOL!
You are a great Mom and Grandma, and comedian!!

Tonight is the big night.
American Idol season 11.
Had an early dinner, washed my hair tomorrow i see my PD last time. i need to take the bus and i don't like standing there with wet hair.
Nothing to update no breaking news.
I'm trying to remain calm and not to get excited about things.
lalalalalalalalalalalalalaaaaaa
-
You should stay calm and meditate.
lalalalalalalaaaaaaaa!
-
Yes I really should
lalalalalalalalalalalalalalala
-
So how you gonna do that?
-
Good Question.
I'm actually a calm person but when you know who interferes or acts stupid I totally loose it.
that's my weakest part. He irritates me big time
OK...Let's forget about that creature...
Just finished watching AI.
-
Glad you enjoyed your show. I am going to dump some bleach down the toliet and flush for you. Then I am going to bed.
Sleep well my friends!
-
Thanks Linda.....We'll be needing hot pepper for his mouth as July approaches.
Good Night♥

I can't believe the cost of airline tickets to the UK. This is going to break me. About 1200.00 round trip per person.
Not including trains, cabs, rentals, tours.
-
Sandy, I'm so sorry. That totally sucks. I hope the Gemzar works.
Deb, so sorry about your dad. We had to put my grandmother in a nursing home and you are right, they are awful. She passed away about 3 months later and although I missed her, I was thankful she didn't have to live like that anymore. That's not really living anyway.
About the nuelasta shot, I do use the Claritin and I pop Advil regularly. I don't know if the Claritin helps at all but now I'm afraid to go without it; it's bad enough as it is. Makes me feel like I have the flu. Fortunately it only last a couple of days.
-
Deb...Prices are higher now.....you really need to study the sites from Tuesday night to all day Wednesday probably after the presidents holidays in February..
I have plenty of time if you want i get the top of it and be your travel agent LOL.
Just PM me your dates and the names of the airports from-To.

Hi Judy my friend♥
-
I was here at 5:30 am
-
I was here at 8;34 AM
Getting ready to see my DR.
-
Ok ladies, are you ready for this...................I say...............are you ready for this...................yesterday my son brought me some very small peppers...........he said my DIL, thought I made my cucuzza with peppers (make it fo rher daughter)..............ok, anyway......son said to her "Kath, my Mom makes cucuzza with "squash", not "peppers".................she said "well take them to her anyway.......along with a gift certificate for my grocery store ($50.00), just for doing 3 loads of wash for her, when her washer broke last week.
Ok, I digress...............the peppers, many, many, peppers (which I don't really eat that often), did look, good, so I decided "hhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmm, think I'll eat one"............took a huge bite out of the friggin thing, chewed, and instant "fire".............here they were "hot shots"........had no idea, and like an "ass", swallowed it................God help me in a day or two..................
Anyway, I figured.I am not throwing these away........its a shame......I'll make "roasted peppers" for my son, and Kath............you put them in the oven to burn the skin, then into cold water so then skin comes off easily............did all that..............
Proceeded to take the skin off the peppers, and remove the seeds....................ok, things were going great till I got to.........about the 6th pepper..............all of a sudden my hands began to burn so bad, I thought someone set them on fire...............................ok, anyone with any sense would have "stopped" removing the skin, cut them, and just finished them "skin or no skin"..........................not little miss..................."it has to be done the right way".................I went through the other (what seemed like 100 peppers), until I was finished.
By this time my hands felt like they were on fire..........solution...........wash them really good.................answer??????.............never do that, and especially, don't rub the soap in as hard as you can..............why you ask,.......................well after going online with my "firery claws"...............I found out the last thing you do is "wash them", you drive the "oils" into the skin.......................
Ok, after the suggestions...........milk, sour cream, and honey.................am I making a cake you say..........no, and after wasting what could have been a cake.......they got worse...............now the suggestion was Clorox bleach diluted in water...............ok, no bleach...........well Clorox wipes should work as well......................don't do that either.........there is no bleach in Clorox wipes which I found out after wiping my hands over and over with them..........ALWAYS READ THE LABEL FIRST.....................well the hands still were burning, but "damn", they were the cleanest hands on the "block".
Jergens lotion, Jergens Cocoa Butter Oil, every frigging thing I used on my boob for the Rad burn, and still nothing helped.
Then I used the other suggested product..........Vaseline..............dipped right into the jar, and smeared that Puppy all over the hands.........didn't help, but another suggestion, never dip "pepper oil covered" hands into a jar of Vaseline, and then (as you usually do)..................when you got to bed............proceed to smear the "same vaseline", out of the "same jar" on your lips.........................ok, do you get the picture...............now in addition to my hands being onf fire...................my lips ' are burning like hell, and have become the size of a "small apes"......................when does this end you say...........................
Not till I decided to give up and go to bed...............oh wait..................I went to the bathroom right before, and "forgot about my burning hands"...............................I won't tell you the rest of the story....................drip, dry, you say................I can show you the trail from the bathroom to the bedroom..............ok, what the hell would you have done..............................taken a chance that the "toilet paper" would rip,..........................oh no, not me, I just dripped dry...........
FOOTNOTE:....................Got up this morning, and decided to take a "sleeper" out of my eye.......................won't get into that................have a good day everyone.
-
OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did that once myself making Chili! I will never chop hot peppers again! Hope you are feeling better!
-
Linda.............Not enough clorox
SLAP *$%^#$%$#%^&

-
Ouch is right! Glad I don't like spicy food. I don't like to eat food that hurts. Hope the burning is gone!
