Kids got out of school early today and it just started snowing about an hour or so ago here.

Glad to hear the butt shot went well.  I wanted to write that I wondered how your butt was doing, but wasn't sure it would be taken the right way...

I want to join in in the SLAP the &*%*& SLAP BAM BAM SLAP SLAP SLAP &*(%^ SLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!!!!!!!!!!

Have to bring the car to get it checked tomorrow morning.  It made a weird noise when I was backing out of the driveway earlier.   When I came home and rolled down the window to listen as I drove up and down the driveway - looking stupid - it didn't make any noise.  Then shortly afterward I went to go out again and it was making the scraping noise going forward too.   Turned around and came back. Not driving it.

And it's not good timing because my DH's father was just brought to the hospital today.  MIL found him on all fours and he couldn't get up.  Arm and leg are affected and he can't communicate well - might have had a stroke.  Waiting to hear the neurologist's assessment.

Tonight I ate...leaks.carrots and tablespoon rice simmered in OO and Tomato sauce plus half a lemon squeezed.

    it was so good.

i have these nameless meals me and DD call them comfort food.

I also made GT with Mexican zucchini and fresh dill. Next time I need to use the regular zucchini. Wasn't too happy.

I have 1 more AG for tomorrow and a bag of washed spinach.

    Glad you are done Deb!

Sheila  -  unlike Sara Palin, I cannot "see" Alaska from here.  However, given the amount of business my DH does in the fish industry there, I can always have fabulous salmon.  But our salmon is extremely different from fresh or farmed Atlantic salmon.

Linda - when you say sea scallops do you mean the giant ones or the little ones?  We don't even get the little ones here.

Tonight we went to our local cantinetta - I had a wheatberry salad with dried cherries and smoked duck.  Then I had brussel sprouts with pancetta and some butterfish.  Or buttah fish.

Oh, I'm just beginning.  Starting tomorrow no solids for 2 days, just liquids and clear jello.

Yummy.  I marinated a tri-tip and Dh grilled it.  We had potatoes and carrots with the marinade reduction over it.  Not bad for less than 500 calories.

The really large scallops, they're my favorite.

    Your dinner sounds great!

Perhaps we should stop talking about food in honor of Deb??

    Sorry Deb!

Meece, I think only northern CA has good tri-tip.  It's like only Boston has good steak tips.  We don't even have those here.

I buy tri-tip by the bag here, usually 7 or so in a bag. Then we cut them in half for when it is jsut the two of us, or leave them whole for when we have guests.  I am a hop skip and a jump from Tri-tip capitol of CA.

where is tri tip capitol?  we have a friend from san luis obispo who keeps trying to tell us how good it is but what we get here is not what he considers tri tip

In the United States, this cut was typically used for ground beef or sliced into steaks until the late 1950s, when it became a local specialty in Santa Maria, California, rubbed with salt, pepper, garlic salt, and other seasonings, cooked over red oak wood and roasted whole on a rotisserie, smoked in a pit, baked in an oven, grilled, or braised by putting a pot on top of a grill, browning the meat directly on the grill surface before and after the braising. (The tri-tip is still often labeled the "Santa Maria steak".) Most popular in the Central Coast of California and Central Valley regions of California,[1] it has begun to enjoy increasing popularity elsewhere for its full flavor, lower fat content, and comparatively lower cost.

Do some foods take longer to digest?  I have a co-worker who thinks she knows everything and commented on the fact that I told her that I had a baked potato and an egg for lunch and she said don't you know that the potato takes a long time to digest.  I told her after I drink the prep nothing is going to be in there.

Wow - you people eat fancy.  We had pizza.

Looks like my FIL did have a stroke.  The CT scan looked good though.  Waiting for the MRI. They are optimistic that he will regain function in his arm and leg.  From what DH described, it sounds as though he was already moving them better.  Maybe that's why the docs were optimistic.  He seems to understand, but he is having trouble speaking.  So.....hopefully he will continue to improve.

Sorry only clear liquids all weekend, Deb.  That's rough.  I didn't realize you had to go so long without eating.  I'm not sure I could stand it.  I would probably eat more jello this weekend than I've eaten in my whole life.  Did you stock up on all different flavors?
