ER-IV Hormone to stop Period- Hurry
Im heading to the ER. I probably am not anemic yet. But my Cardios Nurse wants me to go in...Im sure my Cardio Dr will get back to me by Tuesday! Grrr
But my period has been pretty much non stop for 30 hrs. Passing Fist size clots. Caused by My Blood thinner Plavix & Aspirin
My New PCP said she really can evaluate me there..>Since If I need a Blood transfusion I will need to go to the Hospital.
She said my best bet would be an IV Hormone to stop my period...And to talk to my Onco about that. Dh is calling her.
That scares me- What are your thoughts on this IV Hormone to stop my Period??
or a D & C. Which Cardio doesnt want me to have surgery.
Would a D & C at least stop it for a few months? And get me through my next 2 months of Plavix?
Maybe if I am in the ER- My Cardio & my Onco can figure out together what to do (not my Cardios Nurse!)

Thank you Robyn
I just read about a D & C...Complications include excessive bleeding.
Being on a Blood thinner...I think that is out

Thanks Robyn, Heres my update.
Well I guess I am like a car with a problem...You bring it in & now it wont make the noise.
my period almost completely stopped when I hit the ER.
My Hemaglobin was 11.2. Pretty normal for me (I didnt think it would be low that fast anyway)
Plus I take a big Iron daily at the start of my period & I have iron in my Multivitamin.
its why I wanted to go to the Drs Office. But both Dr & Cardo wanted me in the ER. Will cost me alot more now, ugh- High deductible.
And since I wasnt anemic -They said lets do nothing. Fine with me. They said Hormones were out...But mainly because I was telling the ER dr my history & I forgot I had my 1st Mini stroke 10 years ago from the pill (only had been on it 3 months) It also made my periods 10 tmes worse...We put me on them to make them better.
The only thing good from yesterday is the ER Dr got my Cardio (yes he actually talked to him) to agree to have me off Plavix for 2 days. Will still be on Aspirin to help prevent stroke.
He also told the ER Dr that I am entering the debatable time where I am getting to the safe zone of getting off Plavix. Makes me very mad because I have said this since I met him 8 months ago....And here he wants me on Plavix til the end of April at least.
Anyway. Shockingly my period has been normal since I went to the ER. its like I lost everything in the 1st day & a half! That would be great.
Who knows what will happen next month.
My Plan is to be off Plavix completely before then.
Im to follow up with my Cardio on Monday. Funny because his nurse had 3 hrs to get back to me with what he suggested before I went to the ER & never heard anything.
And follow up with my Obgyn on Monday...Why Im not sure.
Just to pass out more $$?

Maybe this will have some ideas you can bring up.
Beyond the 11.2 hemoglobin what was your iron binding measure?
Iron goes to your blood first, if stores of it are depleted then your binding capacity will be high.

Thanks Rose I will look at that link.
Never got heavy over the whole weekend. Really amazing. it has never been like that before- where it really was that heavy for that long & then almost stopped.
I did not get all my Blood test results. They just told me my Hemoglobin...I never think to ask for Copies when in the ER.
