what tests to ask for

Have been reading thru several forums and realized how little I know. I had cancer 12 years ago and now it's back. I had a bilateral mas. and recon. done before, no drug, radiation or chemo. Last week I had the lump removed, surgeon thinks it's same type as before, but ln had already been removed last time, so there were none to take out this time. Will see onc. and multi-specialist team next week. What tests should I ask to have done? Thanks.

So sorry you have to revisit this junk!  I'm confused--when you say you already had the lump removed last time, does that mean that there's nothing left to take out?  So they've already done the lumpectomy?  In that case, you should ask about the oncotype test and also a bone scan maybe.  I also had a chest x-ray done before treatments began.

Last time I had reconstruction done at the same time I had my mx. Then, just before Christmas I found a lump in my right "fake" breast. So last week, my surgeon removed the lump and the surrounding tissue and he is sure that he got it all. Next week I see the onc. dr. and then meet with a multi-specialist team to decide type of treatment. But it seems to me that I should have more tests done before they determine what treatment to do. People have suggested CT scan, petscan, bone scan, her2 test....I'm just not sure what to ask for. What is the oncotype test? or the FISH test?
