    The Sting

Oh, I loved Bridges of Madison County too! I went with some girlfriends. After the movie, one of the ladies commented how silent the theater was at the end of it. A more jaded friend said, "Yeh, the women were all crying and the men were all asleep." Laughing

When I saw Robert Kennedy, not to change anything but just to re-live it.  I was glued to his speech, so charismatic, a beautiful speaker, so intelligent and eloquent, he gave me goose bumps, I was young but realized he was an amazing person and felt he would change for the better out country.  Little did I know what was to come!

When and where did you get to see RFK????? One of my all time most admired people, and what an incalculable loss his death was to our country!

Meryl Streep because she is so versatile and tries all kinds of roles and seems so down to earth and natural.

    Most treasured childhood memory is......................

<Ruth I saw RFK at the Strawberry Festival in Garden Grove, CA  I still remember it so clearly, looking up and seeing him look at me and talk.  I was truly spell bound.  I am just now finishing up True Compass by Teddy Kennedy,  what a remarkable family the Kennedy's were, each amazing in their own right!>

playing outside with all the neighbor kids in the summer; Star Light/Moon Light, Captain May I, Frozen Tag etc. until it got too dark to see and our mom's would call us in for the night. The family in the house behind us was a big Catholic, Italian family. Their mom would call (in one breath), "Roger, Billy, Monica, Debbie, Theresa, Dominic, and Denise, come in now."

What year did you see RFK, Susie? I read True Compassalso. Very well written and I thought very honest. Have you read Doris Kearns Goodwin's The Fitzgeralds and the Kennedys? Very good, written while Rose was still alive and with her and other family members input.

<Ruth - I don't remember the exact date but it was either the 1 or 2 days before his death I think, such a devastating blow considering the assassination of JFK.  My family supported the Kennedy's and volunteered to call and walk the precincts. The whole family was involved brother and sister-in-laws included.  No I haven't read Doris Kearns Goodwin's The Fitzgeralds and the Kennedys, but will put it on my list of "reads" which is an ever increasing stake of books! LOL>

A friend set me up with a friend of her boyfriend and he was too fresh!  One would have to be an octopus to keep his hands off.  What a jerk he was!  He really deserved a good knee placed in the right spot!  I finally left and called my Mom to come and get me!

I remember I wanted to move to Australia after RFK was killed.

    The best date ever:

Set up: freshman in college, beginning of second semester, met a tall, handsome guy in my Spanish class, we immediately 'clicked'. He asked me out, it was a cold January night:

He came to my dorm & we walked over to the Student Union where we watched "Goodbye Columbus". During the movie, it had started to snow hard, so coming outside was walking into a snow globe. Instead of going back to the dorm, we went and played in a nearby park; throwing snowballs, making snow angels, and having our first kiss with the snow whirling around us. SIGH!!!!!!!

No, in the end the romance didn't work out, but we are still friends to this day.

One person from my past who I wish I had stayed in contact with is.....

A childhood friend!  She lived across the street from me and we had so "adventures" to say the least.  Last time was club-ing and dancing all night.  Things in my life became took some unexpected "turns" and I lost touch with her.  I looked, and looked for her and when I got my first computer I was able to find some phone numbers that were possible relatives but never called.  At the urging of another high school friend I finally called one of the numbers only to find out she had passed away.........  I was so shocked, never expected that but then we grew up at the end of the '60's so maybe not so shocking..........
