The best pet I ever had was my Lab/Shepherd Mix named FLUFFO (gave 2 year old daughter permission to name the pup!) who lived outdoors in Upstate NY (refused to come into the warmth), and passed away after 14 glorious years and 7 delightful puppies.

Favorite cookbook and why................
By the way Badger, I too love my Laurel's Kitchen Cookbook -it has so many fond memories attached to it, raising my son (who is now a man) - could never get him to eat - he to this day loves that Black Bean Soup recipe. Ahhh Good memories!

My favorite cookbook is "Our Favorite Recipes" by the ladies of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend WI, first published 1949. Mine is the twenty-first printing 1990. The recipes are all hand-written and time-tested.
