Well done Meece and I'm sure 3jays will do the same.

Poor kitties.......LMBO!!!!
-
Hello all you Cuties!!!!! I had to LOL'd at those cat pictures. I don't think I've ever seen a can that liked water. Some of these poor cats looks completely petrified.
It's so good to see all of you. I hope everyone is doing well. I keep saying I'm gonna try to get on here more than I do. I really miss you all when I'm away.
DD will "probably" be moving next week, so maybe I'll have more time then.
Opie is just about to run me ragged
He's gradually getting slower and slower. His hind legs seem to be week so he doesn't use his pet door and that means when we're home with him, we're making trips outside every 2-3 hours. He is so demanding and thinks he's the "Prince" of this house. Well..................I guess he really is........LOL. But I love 'em like the dickens.
So, how is everybody doing?
I can't believe our weather this year. We have had absolutely NO WINTER AT ALL!!! As of this minute, we're running our air conditioning. I sure hope that's not a sign of a hot summer. I just can't stand the summers anymore. I keep telling Sharon I'm gonna get my passport and come stay with her........LOLOL. She's holding her breath:) hehe
big big BIG hugs to all of you!!!!

More Awesome than Awwhh cute

Great eagle. Love to see them. We have a few that fly around here and I get out the binoculars and watch them from the deck.
-
chabba,
I love birds. The pix is awsome. I occasionally see an eagle here with a wing span that must measure 3-4 feet.
When I was young (in my hippy days) I embroidered a detailed eagle on my jeans. I still have it and framed it. Spectacular bird.

I heard that the bald eagle is now off the endangered list, but they are issuing licenses to native americans to kill them for ceremonies hey haven't held in over 40 years.
-
Why would they allow anyone to kill our national bird? And for a ceremony that has not been practiced for 40 years! I don't know anything about this native american custom but there are a whole lot of customs that aren't practiced anymore since we are supposed to be "enlightened."
-
Eagle feathers are used in many Native American religious ceremonies. I think asking a culture to give up a religious ceremony is a bit different than asking them to give up a custom. Although Bald Eagles are no longer in parts of the country I think there are still protected in some areas. It is still illegal for non-Natives to posess Bald Eagle parts in at least some areas as well.
-
yes, chabba; its done VERY selectively, only to midwestern tribes.. i was given one as a gift by a shamn, at a pow wow a few years ago.. they have alot of paperwork to do, and its doe very little, even when they DO get permission. the ones' i met had a great deal of respect for ALL animals......3jays
-
3jays - The tribes on the Pacific coast also use Eagle feathers. The traditional dress for the ceremonial dances is spectacular. They literally look like eagles swooping around the fire. You can actually believe they are embodied with the spirit of the eagle. I have friends who follow the old religion. The local Tribe allows spectators at one of their Potlatches every year.
-
Although I have native american in me, my Great grandmother gave up the headright due to the shame involved in her birth. My cousins lived on a reservation and taught school there for many years. I remember going there for Sumemr vacation and seeing the way they still kept their religious customs. They are very in tune with nature in a beautiful way.
I also remember going to tribal displays at some of the old Spanish missions. Amazing dancing.

My little man isn't an infant any more!
-
Have always loved the baby bibs! I swear Mom bought bib overalls for every baby, boy or girl, born in her circle of friends, to the third generation in some cases. Do they still make pink ones for baby girls?
-
I don't know. My MIL bought the boys OshKosh for their b-days and such. I had a lot of colors by the time DS3 came along. I only kept the pair your see Patch wearing above.
