Welcome to Celine.
Kathie, Awesome that you are so happy with the nipple surgery, if you don't mind sharing, how was it done. I am formuling questions now for that procedure that will be in the fall sometime. From what my PS stated months ago he will make a nipple from the breast tissue, then I will have a tattoo for the areola. This plan can change so I am getting all the information I can from the "sisters" who have gone before me. The input and advice from all of you has been so helpful. Jan

Laura: Thank you for the kinds words. You are so nice and easy to talk to. My hair looks fabulous this morning.
I would also like to thank all the women who post. I don't post as much as others, but I get so much encouragement from reading your stories. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!

Holtbolt - #289! Woo-hoo!
Fabulous ladies - I've been looking at the picture forum and I can't believe how beautiful you all are! I mean beauty in the best sense - brave, generous - and yeah, physically too! I can only hope for some of the outcomes you have had!
I continue to have some pretty intensive, stabbing pains in my right breast (previously radiatedf) - I'm sure it is where the alloderm sling is and more medial, close to the sternum. Leaving a message for the PS today.
Dani - yes, yes, yes, assert what you want. I get a kick out of the selective deafness in some of these doctors. They see what THEY want, but don't necessarily hear what YOU want.
Yeesh!

Keep me in your thoughts and prayers......one day to getting new foob....I am so nervous this time and last night despite being dog a** tired from a really busy 3 days at work still could not sleep.....We work 12 hr shifts in my unit and have been twice as busy as normal.....so now that I have day off before surgery tomorrow I have been imagining all kinds of things that could happen.....sometimes being a nurse and patient works against you.......since I know we see the worst case scenarios among our patient population....I have already been up cleaning like crazy to stay busy and get everything ready......my SO and even my sister seem to be unable to operate vacum cleaner....lol.....I had asked my sister to come help me clean house after last surgery and she gave me the strangest look and told me my house was too clean.....well anyone with cats knows ya have to vacum almost everyother day......we have three cats and dog....got two kitties at the pound couple years ago and one turned out to be "long" haired....we thought we got a little white kitty.....He got BIG and very fluffy and won us over as well as my orange tabby (pic) who I named Gilligan......and he fits his name to a tee......anyone remember "gilligan's island"?
Well now that I have rambled on ....better get some errrands done. I will check in as soon as possible after my surgery..((((((HUGS)))))) to all you wonderful ladies....Elaine
-
Holtbolt, I was no. 295. Good luck.
-
Bukki, I was more nervous before this surgery 8 days ago. It was so much easier (after) than the mastectomy. You will be in my thoughts and prayers and hope you get the outcome that you want. I agree, working in the healthcare field makes for different perspective about outcomes. I am glad I don't work in that field any longer. Keep us posted! Jan
-
Elaine... I understand... and you WILL do GREAT!
Praying for ALL you ladies today... hugs to all!
I have been really busy with Work and Family , and have not been on as much as normal. I check daily and pray for all of you!
I think of my July exchange daily and have the same feelings I see here. Excitement.. worry... pain... fear.... joy... etc....
Take care ladies!
Laura

Ladies,

I have posted more pictures on the Picture Page, in the Well Burn Thread.
I will post more pictures after my July 20th Exchange. To show... good or bad.. what we ladies who have to have rads and Mast. can or will look like after exchange and during rads.
God Bless

You are so funny....I can relate AND top you. After one of our precious cats died, we kind of lost all common sense and now we have 7 cats! I know....it's insane! Everyone kept sending us info on available cats and kittens and our grief overruled our judgement!
I love all of them dearly, but I told my DH that when I have my surgrey next week, the biggest thing I want him to do is to vaccum and keep all the litter boxes clean. I work on them much more than he seems to think is neccesary so I think I'm in for some interesting times!
Best of luck. Let me know how it goes. I just had my pre-op today for my surgery next week and I have been nervous for awhile about the exchange and the augmentation. Because of my infection this is my second "stab " at it!
Will be praying for all this week!

I had to nod in agreement as to why I come here. I have been able to answer questions (as a nurse) and ask some too. My DH doesn't really understand it but he just suggested last night that when I am all done with all of this that I need to keep coming to the site to offer my experience to others...maybe DH is starting to understand!.

You know, just my .02. And maybe it is because I have been married over 20 yrs.. buttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt................. why do they care why we come here?
I just told my dh ( Todd) that this is my ladies support group and I feel so happy and a little safer when I am here... He gets it.
I suppose if I were on here all evening... and not spending anytime with him.. he might boo hoo a little... but I am not.
This is OUR BC support.... I think we all need this or we would not have come searching it out. I think we stay to help others who used to be "us"... and we stay because we have met some friends we choose not to let go of.....
Just my .02........
-
I posted my final results......Gosh...thanks Deborah for sending the instructions and Sandy for helping us digitally challenged gals!!!!
Feels good to be wrapping up this surgical journey!!!!
xxoo Kathie
-
Kathie: Hooray! You look so fabulous.....I have major boob greed right now.....
-
(((Laura))), Wow, you touched my heart with the things you said, Now that I have had the exchange, many think that I am all done with the process, and BC. For the most part I am doing well, but then there is the next PS appt, then the fipple, then the graft or tattoo, then I think I am done! This will be just about the time that I am due for the mammogram on my remaining breast! YIKES! The fear that I could start this process all over again creates some angst.
You put a word to it that sums it all, I feel safe here. I will miss not being able to check in during the day when I return to work on Monday. Hugs, Jan
-
Jan... I think we all feel a safety here and lots of love!!
Kathie.. I DITTO DEBORAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I posted you a question on the pic page... you look great girl!
-
Julie/guysermom oh my a guy that finally gets it...
you must have a good one there : - )
oh Laura I so don't want to let you go and so look forward meeting you and all the gals in Sept
I'm still thinking it would have been so cool if I could have came to that muddy duo race this weekend. Maybe next year...
Kathie you looked good before but now with your new nipples your smoking hot ; )
you got such great results I'm so happy for you (((HUG)))
-
Sandy.. like I said darling lady... if you come to KC with a race.. you're stayin' at my house!! You and friends...
We will just put sleeping bags in the guest room if needed!
My house is modest... but always open!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I really hope to do that someday (((HUG)))
-
Geena - Thanks for sharing your pictures. They bring back memories, but I agree w/ the others. .. This too shall pass! And you are off to a great start!!!!
Dani - My thoughts will be with you as you go through your surgery. If it any consolation, I found that my PS liked to make her own decisions as well. Fortunately all has turned out well. Hugs my dear! BTW: I have the style 20 400 cc implants and am very happy w/ them!
Holtbolt - I voted for your son. I hope he wins! He deserves a break!
Fairy49 (Lorraine) - Oh, it is nice to hear from you. Nipples on August 11 you say?!? Congratulations! I am not on as often as I used to be, but I have noticed that you have been even more absent than me. I hope work is going great!
Laura - It is so cool that you got to meet Denise. And I LOVE the pictures with your grandkids!!! I totally agree about the ladies support group, though lately I have been way too busy to visit her very often. Though I still know you all are there! And that's cool too!
Cheri - Your break sounds well received and well deserved!
Kathie - I posted on the reconstruction site, but I agree w/ the other ladies. YOU LOOK FANTASTIC!!!
Bukki - You are in my thoughts and prayers!!! Best wishes my dear!
Well, in anticipation of my nipple surgery in the fall I have scheduled my follow-up colonoscopy (yick). I would rather have the nips, but it is what it is.
Also, it looks like I will have to pass on the trip to Los Vegas. There are a number of reasons, primarily lack of time and money. I will miss the chance to meet so many of you lovely ladies, but I will still be here and will still receive so much of my support from you all through cyber space! I will contact Tracey soon to let her know.
Hugs to you all. - Jean

Jean! yup getting the "fipples" my buddy kathie (sam1991) convinced me that I could do it without being off work for another 2 weeks! I really wanted them done before I turn 50 (aaaaaahhh) in Sept! Work is good, just crazy busy, plus we are moving too!
Oh! wanted to see if any of you guys watched "Make It Or Break It" on ABC Family Monday night, my son is in it!
his name is Marco James, I am a very proud mama!

I must admit that occasionally, when I hear my hubby coming up the stairs, I shove the laptop under the sofa, so he will not see I am STILL on the computer! I think it is just that he retired much too early in life [age 48] and with only golf as a hobby, and not a "passion", I became his #1 hobby. He considers keeping me in line his new career. He loves his job because it is a huge challenge, as I am not easily kept in line. But I love the guy....so evenings I endeavor to get off the computer early so that I can devote my undivided attention to him.
Jean: NO WAY! I was SO looking forward to meeting you in Vegas... Are you SURE??
-
OH JEAN... this breaks my heart! I am with Deborah.. I was sooo looking forward to meeting you.
Are you SURE....I so want us all together...Are you SURE
-
whippetmom:
I tried to contact timtam. How do I know if she will let me on the picture forum.
I have tried to send her a picture, but really don't know how.
Prayers and Hugs to all
