I asked my gyn doctor about bio HRT - he said "I don't know of a doctor who was Rx HRT (bio or otherwise) to a breast cancer patient."

Thank you very much.  I am going to not stop until I find a doctor who will test my hormone levels and balances them.  If this is not hormone related, then at least I will know to keep investigating.  I am a miserable person, cranky, unpredictable, lazy (yuck), gained 50 lbs, and this is not me.  I am looking at my life and cannot find anything so bad that I should be like this.  I should be rejoicing for living beyond BC.

This cannot go on.  It is costing my the respect of my peers and neighbors, coworkers - i am actually slovenly.  Hot flashes are wearing me out and every med has been tried.

Thank you, again.  I have worked in medicine for 30 years indirectly and all I can say is that doing everything right does not stop a patient from ending up where we are or worse.  I have to start living soon because this is nothing short of decaying and I am too young for this, just lacking stamina which I believe is due to hormone imbalance.

Wendy, find a compounding pharmacy and they will be able to tell you the names of doctors who they work with who prescribe BHRT. That is how I found my doctor. In the meantime, read Dr Erika Swartz and Dr Uzzi's book, or even Suzanne Somers book. There is no need for you to keep feeling this way. Good luck!

I was told that progesterone eventually turns into estrogen way down the chemical chain and none of the estrogen or progesterone suppliments are safe.

    Wendy,

As per the documentation above, there is no evidence that HRT after breast cancer causes more recurrence. It's a rumor that got started with out evidence. You often hear, "I was told blah blah, blah," but there is no evidence.

Suzanne Somer's oncologist writes her bioidentical prescription.  Ladies, wake up and do your own research! Your survival and quality of life are at stake. You can't rely on  what you "were told."

When diagnosed, there are three things you can do. Read, read, read.

    Thank you ladies.  Much appreciated.

    anomdenet,

I totally agree with your statement, many rumors and much like the news broad casted all to be slanted and twisted to serve one's purpose. I have spent the last 3 weeks reading everything I can get my hands on to get a good understanding of bio-identical hormones, their affect and risk of using them. I have decided to use them and now my search is to find a Dr who will prescribe and work with me until I am BALANCED!!! and feel normal again.

    1. I spoke with a pharmacist at a local compound pharmacy, didn't even know their was one located in my county, and he gave me some insight on how to get the ball rolling.
    2. Today my PCP wrote me a script for some blood work that I determined was needed as a baseline and to help me understand where my hormone levels are at. He is not knowledgeable with bio-hormone at all but willing to help me get my blood tests started.
    3. Tomorrow I talk with my Onc in hope he will understand and support my decision to use bio-hormone. I will take into consideration his concerns as I am sure he has some, we will discuss. I am not sure how knowledgeable he is in bio-hormone but will talk with him.

I am excited that I may someday feel normal, not all the cranky typical PMS crap.

find what will get you through,

I am experiencing the same types of problems since my breast cancer diagnosis. I should be happy that I am cancer free(of course I am) although, I do not appear to be. I am always cranky, irritable, tired, hurt all over, hot flashes 10 or more times daily and also at night, ABSOLUTELY NO LIBIDO, and would rather crawl in bed to sleep than do anything else. I need to feel human again. Also, if things continue I may end up in divorce. My husband doesn't seem to understand. Any suggestions on where to start. My gyn told me he would not prescribe anything due to my recent breast cancer with ER/PR positive diagnosis. Help!!!!!

Golfingb-read through this thread and try to find a doctor who really understands BHRT. As we have said above, a good way to find such a doctor is to visit a compounding pharmacy. They will have names of doctors that they work with. It is very important that you get everything balanced, both for your health and quality of life. There is no need to suffer. And you might also check out the idodine connection threads.

    Good luck!
