I am on Plavix- a blood thinner & Aspirin- While my Heart heals.

I will be on Plavix for at least 3 more months...Could be 6-12 months of It doesnt go well.

My periods are bad.  2 weeks long, Heavy & every 3.5 weeks.

Ok, the other day I started my Period (Dot)  9 days early- Only 8 days after it ended....Or so I thought.

Guess what.  It wasnt my period.   This bright red bleeding - Heavy- clots- started right after I had sex.  I assumed it was my period Embarassed

It stopped 24 hrs later.

Kind of scary.  Although I really think it is because of the plavix.  never happened before though.

So what to do?  Not have sex again- LOL

I have my Annual Pap appt in 1 month.  Should I just wait until then to have this checked out?

When searching this am...I found a thing called her option- Cyroablation.

I had a (heat) Uterine ablation 4 years ago...At the hospital, Knocked out for it. Was mildly succesful in my eyes.  Drs call it unsucccessful- but it made it so I could leave the house.

This Freezing one is done in the office.   Not sure if it can be done after a Heat Ablation...But maybe its something that I can have done now...Im not supposed to have surgery while on plavix...Maybe this would be different then surgery....

What about Zolodex or Lupron?

Would they kick in fast to stop my periods....Or maybe not stop them- because I am on plavix anyway.

Or would they kick in in 2 months & I would be off Plavix (I hope) by then anyway.

I guess the Cyroablation isnt instant either...One has a very heavy period after at least once of not more...Im still reading about it.

My Cardio says we can give me a blood transfusion if I need it.  Well thanks- its just what I wanted.

Any Ideas?

I guess I am just rambling...I have no idea what to do.

Honestly, I wouldn't wait the whole month... See if your GYN can get you in sooner. Obviously, the plavix is contributing to this, but large clots can also be a sign of uterine fibroads. I'm so sorry its one more crappy thing you have to deal with. I think for comforts sake, you should try to speed up the appt.

I hope other gals come along with better advice soon!

Please see a GYN surgeon.  You can have a partial hysterectomy and leave all or a part of an ovary and get over this, and still not be in menopause--- I wonder if you are already anemic?  You just should not be bleeding this way.  Period, and docs who are not surgeons will just let you skate along bleeding like a stuck pig and try to find a drug to "fix" it.  Medical docs are just like that.  Surgeons do surgery, and get the problem fixed (we hope),  but at least get a Consult from a gyn surgeon.

At the very least you need some test to see if it's something wrong or something related to a med, that needs adjusting or changing.  Anemia can and does happen, but I know I was just starting through my change before B/c hit and horrible periods like you are talking about.  I also had it about 15 years ago and at that time, it was found that I had CIN III and had to have a cone biopsy where they remove a cone shape upside down from the cervix.  Please get this looked at or call you ob-gyn.  No sense to worrying..if it's a problem, deal with it, if not, then you can rest knowing it will be over soon after the med is stopped or such.  Good Luck

I had problems like this that lasted for about a year.  My gyn told me I could have a hysterectomy or learn how to live with it.  I chose the hysterectomy and haven't looked back since.  Was the best move I ever made.  No more monthly issues and that was the best bonus.  I hated the problem of having sex and bleeding.  Basically I was bleeding forever it seemed.

    Thanks for your replies ladies.

One problem with the hysterectomy is my Cardio will not let me have any elective surgery right now.

I have to wait at least 3 months...Or could be up to 6 or more before he would say its ok.

I havent been real anemic since they got heavy in June.  The lowest I have probably been is 10.

I am usually normal.   Before my Uterine ablation 4 years ago my Hemogloben was as low as 7.

I do take a daily Multivitamin with Iron.  And an Iron every day when I have my Dot.  Seems to have kept me ok.
