Stomach Issues
Hi All,
I'm not complaining, just curious. I'm about 7 months out from chemo and 4 months out from radiation. I don't want to seem like a hypochrondiac and run to the Dr, because I'm thinking I may be normal. (plus I to avoid and trip to the dr.s office) But as far as the stomach goes, is it normal for it to be completely off. I get strong burning pains in my stomach alot. Mostly in the upper abdomen. Just wanted to see if I'm normal and is there anyone that is years past chemo and still having stomach issues and/or other side effects.
Thank you for any imput you may have!

Jennifer,
It sounds like acid reflux to me. I have had that off and on since treatment. I had it terrible during chemo, but I still have issues with that. You should go in just to get it confirmed as acid reflux can cause scarring if left untreated. It's something that I think I will be prone to from now on.

Hi Bugs, Thank you for the information. I was thinking something like that as well, but I was wondering what everyone else has.

I have had it and sounds like you do as well. Go see the doc and get treatment before it gets worse---it doesn't go away on it's own.
Or, if you want to be scared into going to the doc: consider that women's symptoms of heart attack car be very much like what you are describing---we can have very different symptoms than men have. Ok, likely not that, but don't be afraid of seeing your doc---s/he would much rather treat you when something is in the early stages when better/faster outcomes are likely.

Definitely something you need to have checked out by the doc. Unfortunately, I never had any of those issues and could eat and eat and eat....and did.

Yep, I have gastro issues too. It will be 3 years since I completed chemo in Mar 09. I also had an oophorectomy after treatment and am taking Femara so those could be contributors as well. I really think that chemo did a number on my stomach. I take Zantac once in a while and watch the foods I eat but what seems to help the most is ensuring I consume probiotics (yogurt), prebiotic (digestive enzymes) and fiber (to clear things out). Seems to be working for me.

I always had some stomach issues -but BC and all that has come with it really aggrivated the issues, I was also refered to a gastro specialist, lots of testing there "just to be sure" colonoscopy, meds etc. (B9 Polopys found) YEAH!!!!!
Like Liz if I am extremely careful with my diet, and I do take Miralax x2 daily things seem to stay in check.
