My mom's wound won't heal!

    HI everyone! I have been on the net for several hours now and still can't find what I need.  My mom had her right breast removed on the 28th of Oct.  It began to open and soon became infected. She had to have a second surgery on the 21st of Nov and here we are in January and it still has two openings.  It is not infected and they are packing it with gauze, it seemed to help.  Today her nurse was cleaning it and discovered it is hollow horizontally (underneath her skin where it has healed).  I hope this makes sense to somebody, we don't know what to do.  My poor mom is so scared and feels she can no longer continue if they have to do surgery again.  I asked her to sed a wound care specialist but she is terrified.  Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?  Any info will help!

    Hi Jella, If you haven't already, you may want to post your question in the Surgery - before, during, and after section of this board.  You will get some responses for sure!  Take care, I hope your mom is on the road to recovery.
