Newly Diagnosed

Hello...I've moved over from the 'not diagnosed yet' thread-just diagnosed.

Saw the surgeon today, see oncologist tomorrow to make an appt for the port and while there they are throwing in a sentinal lymph node biopsy.  Dr. didn't feel any swollen lymph nodes, but my tumor is on the larger side....

I've been told 3-4 months of chemo, surgery, chemo again.

Has anyone here felt good enough through their chemo to continue working?  And... is any questions that I should ask the oncologist? (other than the regiment, the full pathology report, if I'm scheduled for a PET)

(I've pretty much beat this to a pulp, I just like to be over informed...I guess it's a way of staying 'in control.')

    Hi Respin,

I've worked through all my chemo's (40+).  Key is to have chemo on Thursday and you maybe able on Friday...I could.  Than your worst days are on Sat & Sun.  As you move through the weeks of chemo you may have to go part time.  The more chemo you have the more fatigue you become.  Again this depends on how chemo effects you.  Each of us is different.  I found the key is to make sure you get good sleep.  Take something if you have too....most of us do. If you work closely with the public the doctor will tell you not to work.  But you don't I would work as long as you can. I think it's great to have something to think about other than bc.

Your right about understanding your path report is very important. Find out what chemo they want to give and why.  Than go to the thread for "getting through treatment" there is a excellent thread for getting through chemo and side effects.  I have one other comment...After start treatment take time to relax and be with your love ones.  You will have time to later to research all your other options as you move through the next few months.  Big thing about cancer is you have "No control" we just like to think we do.  Education is the key to help you understand what is happening. But your peace and strength will come from living your life daily with you eye wide open know how precious life is while in the middle of this exhausting time.
