LWORD - the last season #6 (may contain spoilers)
I'm feeling bittersweet about the beginning of the season because it's the last season. You've probably read that the season starts off with the murder of Jenny and then goes back through the investigation.
Showtime has been somewhat transparent because they've talked about a spin off with Alice as part of an ensemble cast that's set in a woman's prison, LOL. I believe there will be a few lesbian/bisexual women and also straight women. I really like Alice and Tasha together.
So we can discuss all things L-Word here!

I didn't hear about the woman's prison part. I would love it if they do a spin off. I can't wait to see the show tonight. Im having a dinner part/L word viewing lol...it should be fun.

Oh Amy, we're back on board with our fave show, huh?! I'll tell you frankly...I'm SO glad that Jenny will be dead, but it looks like we'll need to go through alot of pre-murder stuff first. I wonder if the entire season will be "pre"? And after the first episode, one thinks that Niki will be the murderer, but I'm sure it's deeper than that. Who else has strong negative feelings towards Jenny (besides ME, that is!)?
Oh I just LOVE Alice & Tasha together! Shane is a pain-in-the-a$$, as far as I'm concerned. She's always screwing around with someone and cheating on whoever she's with....when will that girl grow the freak up???!

You must have got your showtime back!
OMG- I'm thrilled that someone finally killed Jenny, I wish it had been done sooner. Conventional wisdom says psycho Niki has to be the murderer, but with the Alice character being spun off to a new series set in a prison, I think it must be Alice. I just can't see Alice as a prison guard, so I think she's the murderer. I have never liked or felt sorry for Jenny. I think she's always been manipulative. What would be interesting is if Tasha actually killed Jenny, but Alice confesses, although that would be out of character. Not sure how I'll like the prison show. I think it's only 1'/2 hr. It's not a lesbian drama but there will be a handful of them,
I have read that a lot of the season is pre, but I don't think the whole season is because there was an announcement of someone (I forget who) who plays the cop doing the investigation.
Teresa, what did you think about the show???????
Shane is really f-ed up and self destructive. She's ruined every relationship she's had. Hot or not, Shane has made her bed over and over and over.
-
Ah, but the plot thickens! Now Jenny is in love with Shane??? WTF?! And maybe I missed something, but why would Alice kill Jenny? Hey, maybe it's Tina who killed Jenny...for going along with the hetero ending to the movie? Or not.....
What do you think of Phyllis and whats-her-face? I think they're pretty cute!
~Marin
PS: Amy, I not only got Showtime back, but got a deal for $11.50/month for Showtime AND HBO and all of their related stations, including On Demand! So I'm also busy catching up on Weeds!
-
WTG Marin... I didn't like weeds this season, I only watched the first few episodes.
I love Phyllis and her lawyer.
I thought the whole Tasha./Alice therapy thing was ridiculous. No couples counselor would tell them they have nothing in common and to break up. They are both so cute, I can see myself with Tasha but I think Alice would drive me crazy.
I never liked Jodi, like her even less now.
Stop reading if you don't want to read why Alice killed Jenny.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Tina suggests Alice let Jenny read her movie idea. Jenny reads it. Steals it. Makes a 1/2 million dollars on it. Alice kills. That's the spoiler I read. Before we know who did the murder, apparently everyone has a reason to have killed her.
-
Oh, I just got back to this thread today, Amy. That makes sense about the murder, but I just never got the sense that Alice could be THAT insane about money! I mean murder is pretty radical, huh?! Well, I do like the idea of setting up each & every character to be a possible killer...it makes watching it all even more interesting!
What's with Phyllis telling Bette to take a leave? It seems too harsh, don't you think?
Alice would make me crazy too. Tasha is really hot, but doesn't open up enough about her feelings, so I think I'd get terribly annoyed with her if I was with her. In fact, it would be kind of like being with a man...the majority of them choke on any emotional discussion!
BTW, I'm also loving Toni Collette in The US of Tara! Oddly, she makes the character almost believable!
~Marin
-
All I can say is I never liked Jodi and the thing with Phyllis was poorly conceived. How could Phyllis fire/force Bette to leave because she slept with a subordinate & it could be grounds for sex harrassment lawsuit--- then in the next breath hit on Bette saying now that Bette isn't working for her any more. Talk about a sex harrassment lawsuit in the making.
If Bette should have had to lose her job for her sexcapades, it should have been for sleeping with a student, not a subordinate, IMHO.
I think it's not about the money with Alice, it's about Jenny having trashed Alice's idea and then stealing it since Alice is creative and into the tv thing. Maybe it was a spur of the moment./accident. I can't see Alice doing premeditated murder. Jenny is the king of person who inspires a snap judment murder, LOL.
-
Sorry, I admit it I killed Jenny...she deserved it.
-
Wow dee, I never saw that one coming LOL.
Does anyone else think this season is a little .... boring?
The Max pregnancy thing is stupid. He could have found a way to get an abortion if he wanted one. All the story lines seem contrived to me.
-
I agree, Amy...there's nothing to be passionate about and the drama seems contrived. I'm a bit intrigued, though, with the hint of a flirtation between Alice and the chick she's trying to set Helena up with. But then what about Tasha?
As for Max's pregnancy, give me a break. He either wants a baby or he doesn't. And then the next thing you see is him and the bf at birthing classes! Yeah, right.
Looks like Shane might start getting a little fed up with crazy Jenny pretty soon...maybe that's how we'll supposedly suspect Shane of the murder?
~Marin
-
At this point, I think Tasha is way too good for how Alice has been acting. I think you're right about Shane being the next "suspect". I assume all the main characters will be suspects before we find out who really did it and that will likely be anticlimactic. I don't think Jenny is crazy, I think she's got a bunch of the most annyoing personality disorders. She's narcissistic, histrionic and borderline, the trifecta of annoyance.
I don't blame the guy for leaving Max-- that's not what (I forget his name) signed up for. Way too much drama and IMHO, Max isn't really worth the trouble. I've never liked the character.
-
3 more episodes to go! At this point I'm not even sorry to see the show end, the plots are so ridiculous. I'm ready to kill Jenny if someone doesn't go ahead and do it. I hate how Shane is with her. How dumb was the spying thing???? Note to writers, people don't do that in real life. The Tina/Bette thing is silly, and the scene in the restaurant was also dumb. I hope there's a pay off with Jenny's murder. It can't come soon enough.
-
What did you guys think about last night's episode? At this point, whoever did kill Jenny surely has to be given a citation for doing a public service. The show has gotten ridiculous. I wonder whether the "murderer" will be Jenny committing suicide and there is no murderer?
-
Yeah, Amy, the writers are trying to build up the tension and maybe it's their intent to get the viewers to hate Jenny so much that they empathize with the killer. The only way that I can imagine Jenny being suicidal is if she saw the large drama points an attempt would give her. Otherwise, she's narcissistic and all about herself. Hooking her up with Shane though, in my opinion, was the most unrealistic thread so far. It just wouldn't happen in real life and the charcaters have zero chemistry together.
I'm enjoying the Bette & Tina and the Alice & Tasha goings-on. Who do you think will cheat with new girl (can't remember her name- Jordan?)? At first, I though she and Alice would hook up, but now, after that mutual trip down memory lane for Tasha and "Jordan," I'm thinking that they'll get closer...hmmmmmmm.
~Marin
-
I hope no one cheats,Marin. I can't remember the new girl's name either. If I had to pick one, it would be Alice, she's less mature than Tasha. I did have to laugh at Jenny thinking Bette and her old friend were having a form of sex when Bette was picking up the broken glass.
I can see Jenny being suicidal if all her (ex) friends refuse to talk to her and she feels abandoned and alone. She's not only narcissistic,borderline and histrionic, she's probably also bipolar. I hate that shane turns into a wimp around Jenny. I really hope they kill Jenny this week so next week the whole two hours is a the investigation and I hope a happily ever after for all...of course, if they aren't all happy there could be a movie.....
-
I was disappointed with last night's episode. I wanted plot, and most of the show seemed to be dancing and empty fluff. I thought for sure Jenny would have told Tina about Bette's (non)cheating. I never liked Jodi, though I bet Marlee Matlin loves playing the witch. The Tasha/Alice thing was weird, I couldn't interpret the look Tasha gave Alice in answer to her question.
The weirdest part of the show was when Jenny bought Shane the actress(I keep forgetting her name). I used to think Shane was attractive and I still like her body, but she looked way too much like a guy to give me butterflies last night.
I can't believe there's only 1 episode left--- forever. Next week's 2 hr episode should be exciting- I hope things keep working out for Bette and Tina and I'm rooting for Tasha's happiness. I decided I'm sick of Alice's voice, too much like someone who huffed helium.
-
Hey, maybe they will ALL join forces and kill Jenny together! And ya know what...I'd be happy to get in on it too! I'm so disappointed that this will be the last episode too because without Jenny, it could be a more mature, interesting show. Ugh! Maybe the spin-off will be cool....
~Marin
-
This season could have been a lot better if Jenny killed herself in the first episode and the cast mourned for the 2nd episode. There better be a great payoff next week...
-
The L Word" is nearing the end. The series about lesbians living in upscale Los Angeles will run its final episode on March 8 with a two hour event that includes a look back through the memorable moments as well as exclusive interviews about the show with creator Ilene Chaiken in the first hour.
Then starting at 9/8c, the final conclusion of the show which has been revealed to include the death of Jenny will be aired. Called "Last Word", the episode will be personally directed by Ilene. A celebration of friendship ends in disaster. The girls find themselves in a situation with the law. Sergeant Duffy (Lucy Lawless) investigates Jenny's death, and someone; Bette, Tina, Alice, Shane, Helena, Max, or Kit will take the fall.
The series has spawned a spin-off that will center on Alice. No title has been given yet, but production had been kicked of in December last year for a premiere later this year. Famke Janssen ("Nip/Tuck"), Laurie Metcalf ("Roseanne") and Melissa Leo ("Frozen River") have all been booked to join the pilot. -
Can I just scream?????????????????????? WTF kind of ending was that?
I figured out, half way through the show that we weren't going to know who killed Jenny. I kept hoping I was wrong.
I didn't like the last show, too much jumping around from past to present. I was quite satisfied that Alice and Tasha, and Bette and Tina seemed tostay together.
Dylan knowing about the "set up" prior to it happening was a shock to me. The relationship between Dylan and Helena was a strange one.
I hope that Shane hooked up with Cybill shephards's daughter-- I was so mad Jenny never told shane about the jacket/letter. I was unsurprised that Jenny had the tapes, that was obvious.
If I had to guess, based on the last episode what happened I'd say either 1) Jenny fell because of the incomplete banister, it was sure mentioned enough 2) Bette did it right after her "threat" about leaving her family alone 3) shane (she was holding a lot in) 4)Everyone got together and did it 5)an anonymous good samaritan LOL
I'm dying to hear what other people thought of the "ending".
-
I thought it was a cheap trite ending and unworthy of the 6 seasons leading into it
-
I so agree that the ending was a HUGE disappointment! Do you think that the website's weekly installments that were mentioned will give us more clues? If not, I think that the writers must have lost touch with reality- the reality that should have told them that viewers need closure! I mean, it's not bad enough that the show has ended, but they had to give us crap for the whole last season, leading up to the biggest crap of all...no ending at all! Ugh!
The only comforting ending to me would be that Jenny has one moment of clarity and, realizing that she was unworthy of this world and all of the women who had tried to befriend her, killed herself.
I felt sorry for the dog. They could have at least showed someone taking the dog.
~Marin
-
I don't believe Alice said anything about giving us clues, just giving us more about the interrogations. I watched Tina's, if you haven't seen it,it's worth watching/ Maybe the writers wanted us to make up out own minds.
I like your comforting ending-- I think if she was killed, the person deserves a medal because it was a public service.
The last scene walking into the police station was beyond stupid.
-
Jenny's killer: It was Miss. Scarlett in the library with the candelstick.
P.S. Alice's spinoff is called tenatively called "The Farm" and is set in a women's prison, but you probably already knew that.
-
Sorry,
I already admited to killing her stupid ass~
