Please help me understand my pathology report

Here's what the long awaited addendum to my pathology report said:

"Immunohisochemical stains demonstrate expression of extrogen receptor (60%) and of progesterone receptor (40%).  The MIB-1 proliferation index is approximately 15%.  The result of Her2/neu assessment will be reported in a subsequent addendum."

Here's what I understand:  The tumor is ER+ and the HER2 status is still being determined.

What I don't understand:   Is it progesterone positive at 40%?  What does the MIB-1 proliferation index mean and is that a good number?

I have been away from my computer for almost 24 hours so I know that people have replied to my prior posts and I haven't yet had time to acknowledge them.  I am truly grateful for everyone taking time out of their schedules to reply to my posts.

Hi Sami,  Look closely at your report to see if the addendum is included at the end.  Am away from home so I would have to look up the mib-1 proliferation index mean.  Your understanding of the path report so far is good.  If you have not had your baseline cat scans, etc you will have to get those to help finish the staging.  Did you do the sentinel node biopsy and have any positive nodes?  hang in there.  My original dx was at age 49..... IDC, 1.7 cm tumor plus malignant microcalcifications, grade 3, nuclear grade 8, 0/12 nodes, er+/pr-/her2+++.  had mast, 4 rounds of a/c, port placement, hysterectomy and oophorectomy....am doing well 4 1/2 years later.  You will get through this.

Hi Sami,

The MIB 1 proliferation rate is how quickly the cancer cells are dividing. Also known as the ki 67 test.  A score of 15% is considered low and a good number. Meaning the cells were not considered aggressive.

Yes, I think it does mean you are progesterone possitive by 40%
