waiting game

I posted this under my original post but I wanted to post it somewhere else so more people might see it.  For anyone who doesn't know I have been having severe left breast pain.  Had a diagnostic mammogram done on Monday, got results of it yesterday morning showed something suspicious they said so went back today for another mammogram of the left breast and an ultrasound.  The ultrasound didn't show anything they said but the mammogram showed the same thing as the first.  They have recommended that I wait 6 months and come back for another one to see if there are any changes.  Is this normal practice or should I insist on a 2nd opinion.  I am just still worried about it.  It just scares me that it could be something in there and they don't want to do anything about it. My history is a am a 35 year old with a mother who has had breast cancer 3 times and an aunt that had it too.  Sorry to ramble on just hoping someone could put my mind at ease.

Don't wait!  Yes, get another opinion.  If the mammo showed something suspicious then it needs to be biopsied.  With your family history it needs to be taken care of ASAP.  Be aggressive - it's your body and your life!!

Best of luck - please let me know!

Sometimes the advice to wait 6 months makes sense, but in your case, with your family history and an unexplained suspicious mammo, I'd say that you definitely need to get this checked out further.  Hopefully in the end this turns out to be nothing serious, but you should be finding that out now, not waiting 6 months.

As an aside, my advice is to not go to the website noted in the post above mine from Zebelin.  It's always suspect when a new member directs women here to another website.

Just received a call back from my original mammo.  They did a comparison with the last one and want to look again....now what?  Have to wait until Tues for the Ultrasound and MRI...I'm a mess!
