I'm a recent transplant to Minnesota.  My family and I moved here 6 weeks after my last chemo treatment from Ohio.  While in Ohio, I was part of an amazing support group at The Wellness Community in Cincinnati.  We met once a week and developed strong bonds with all of the women in the group.  Unfortunately, I have not found anything like this in MN.  My hope is that there are other women in my area--west Minneapolis suburbs--who also are looking for a frequently-meeting group (once a week?) and would be willing to start something with or without a trained facilitator.  I'm open to ideas and would be more than happy to have the meetings at my home or to do the legwork of arranging a more neutral meeting place.

A google search turned up these options.  Maybe you've already investigated them, but just in case.

I used to live in Minneapolis and know its a very progressive city with a huge population of educated and proactive women.  I just joined a young women's support group where I live (St Louis) and its been a great resource.  While I am very impressed that you want to start your own group, it might also be good to join an already existing group to get local information like nutritionist referrals, yoga teachers, etc.

    Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the info.  I have been in contact with some of these organizations.  Unfortunately, either the groups meet when I can't because of my kids being at home, or the group only meets once a month which I find really awkward.  I agree that an already existing group would be helpful for "insider" information but I also want to feel comfortable while I'm there and the infrequent meetings are far from comfortable.  I'll figure something out.
