SCARED!!
I WAS DIAGNOSED, JAN 7, WITH INVASIVE DUCTIAL CANCER. I SAW MY SURGEON YESTERDAY. I AM SO OVERWHELMED. HE WANTS TO DO SURGERY WITHIN THE NEXT 10-14 DAYS. ITS ALL SO MUCH TO TAKE IN SO FAST. IT WAS FUNNY, WHEN HE SAID CHEMO, AND THAT I WOULD LOOSE MY HAIR. I WAS LIKE " D##MN IM LOOSING MY HAIR!" NOT KNOWIGF AT THIS POINT , IS THE BIG FEAR. I HAD AN XRAY YESTERDAY TO SEE IF IT HAS SPREAD TO MY LUNGS. NOW IM REALLY SCARED TO DEATH. ITS GOOD THOUGH, TO KNOW THAT I CAN CONNECT WITH OTHERS, WHO ARE GOING THROUGH TOO.

Yes it's scary but you're not alone, you'll find a lot of help here and I can tell you one thing for sure: don't worry about your hair it will grow back, as for your surgery I guess you still have tests to be done, ask for an MRI and don't let anybody rush you into any decision. You can ask a lot of questions here, I'm amazed at the level of knowledge of the ladies here. Ask your doctors any doubt you may have and stay strong.
Best of luck to you.

First of all, take a breath. We have all been when you are now and I know I still have days when I am scared out of my mind. The testing time is the hardest. Waiting for results is pure hell. Honestly, I don't know why doctors don't give you a perscription for Xanax or Attivan when you are first being tested, you truely need it. Call your doc or when you see him next, ask or a perscription. I lived on them while I was waiting for test results.
I am so sorry you are going through this, but you will find a lot of support here. These ladies are awesome and have helped me through some really tough times.
Take care,
Robyn

SO sorry you have to deal with this horrid disease!! Just diagnosed myself, i know how you feel when you get the phone call and meet with the DR for the news.. First off, you will get all the right support here as kyrptonite said!!The weath of info here in just a weeks time here has been awesome!!!
Second, for most of DCIS i was informed and hope i am not wrong, but check with others here for i am not a pro at this by any means. You have time to deal with DCIS and it has been there for us for a while. What grade and how is the cancer dispersed in you breast. Some cancers are contained in duct. or some are spread in a star burst way that determines the kind of surgery would be most effective. This kind of cancer is also one that is early enough to be takened care of!!! That is good news and though we have cancer, the timing is everything .
Take a breath, not sure why your DR blurted out chemo so quickley and very disturbing how he did that to you!!! Has a biopsy been done and what vital info did they give you this far. You can take the power back by being here and getting educated so you can have control over what you want this journey to be!! Here for you.
My surgery is set for jan 20th and beleive me, it is not easy , as it is my first major surgery. But the main thing is, this disease will be takened seriously of course but it is not goin to win. Just know you are not alone in your feelings and fears. Just know it is not goin to stay that way once you know that this cancer can be handled in your time as well!!!!!
