Ocotype Dx results tomorrow!!!
I have been lurking for weeks and have read just about everything you all post.....it has been so helpful! Thanks! I am BRCA1 pos. and was dx 11/4 with IDC 7 mm stage 1 grade 2 no node involvement. I am going to get my Oncotype reults tomorrow to see if chemo is the right treament for me. I might also add I had an oopherectomy at the same time I did masc. due to BRCA1 dx.
The Dr. has offered to put me in the TailorX clinical trial.....which I signed onto. I am scared!! I want the score to come in low! Thanks for listenening!

What type of chemo are you going with?
When I was researching chemo I thought I found from this site that TC has less side effects than ac but some docs try to give it to you because it's cheaper. Mine had 1st said ac until I printed stuff off this web site than he said oh if you need it we would give you TC just make sure you do a little homework
Sorry yours wasn't lower
I'm sure you'll get a lot of helpful hints from the ladies here

I think he recommended TC because it was less toxic and less damage to the heart. I am sure he is not concerend about the cost. I am having treatment through miiltary medicine and they seem to base their decisions on patient needs from my experience. He said I was on the border so wanted to give me just the right amount, and not too much. Hope he is right!!

Sandy, both the oncos I talked to wanted to use AC at first. The onco I finally settled with agreed that TC was a reasonable alternative, especially considering some of my other medical issues. She said the long-term SE's of TC are not as serious as those with AC (heart damage was the one we were discussing). But, she said she thought the short-term/immediate SE's of TC were probably worse than those of AC.
Taxotere (docetaxel) is definitely more expensive than Adriamycin (doxorubicin). Adriamycin is available in generic form here in the U.S., but Taxotere is still under patent protection.
