After Treatment Fatigue

I'm 5 months past chemo and can not seem to get my energy back. I'm exhausted after a days work and am unable to do housework, etc when I get home.  I was always an "on the go" type of person.   A friend of mine told me it took her a year and a half.  I was wondering how many of you still experience fatigue, tiredness after all of your treatments.  Does anone have any ideas of what may help with this?

    Hey Karen

I know how you feel. I finished chemo in August, and still get so wiped out it's not funny. The worse part is people (including husband, kids) don't understand why I still get tired so easily, so I try to keep going. But over the holidays it''s been very exhausting. It's frustrating to want to get stuff done and just not have the energy to do it. I used to could get by with less sleep, but now I need 9 or 10 hours at least - and naps on the weekend. My only advice is do the minimum you can to get by. Someday the energy will be back and then we can accomplish things again!

Karen, have you been tested for anemia or thyroid problems?  Both could have been caused by chemo.

Yes, I was already tested.  All came back good.

    Hi K,

I didn't even have chemo and at 6 mos out from 4 surgeries(besides the bx) and on Tamox. I was still exhausted.  this disease takes a toll in ways we don't even consider!

Worst vacation of my life was 6 mos out and on a trip to Paris, imagine, I couldn't even walk over 3 blocks with out sitting down.

Hang in there, it does take a long time, and not one other person will understand till they've gone thru it, too.
