Today is my birthday.  I received my present early, on December 19th, with bilateral mastectomy.  I'm one of the lucky ones.  It was caught early.  The treatment was mastectomy and now that is over.  I just have to heal and undergo the exchange from expanders to implants and I'm done.  I'm one of the lucky ones.  I know that.

In a way, we are all lucky.  Lucky we have this outlet for our fears and as a source of valuable information, lucky that there are now federal laws that require insurance companies to pay for our medical costs and the costs of reconstruction and most importantly, that we have each other to lean on.

I know I am not alone.  Thank you.

Thanks for the well wishes.  My whole family was over and it was wonderful.  Just had to be super careful around kids and dogs who like to jump all over the place.  I am very protective of my chest these days.  Life can be so great sometimes.
