Platelet count and Herceptin Treatment

My mother went through taxol (approx 6 mo) and herceptin (1 year) recently. She finished her last herceptin treatment in September 2008. During her treatment her platelet levels had decreased, which we knew was pretty normal. However, since she has finished her platelet levels aren't getting better and in fact are getting worse. It isn't at a point where the insurance company will allow us to do any treatment (have to love those damn insurance companies!) and the doctors are just telling us to keep a watch on her bloodwork. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal? Or do I need to go to my mom's doctor's appointment to kick some doctor's butt to take more action?

    Jess,

Try a high quality B-Complex vitamin for a few weeks.  Her platelets should improve as well as her Hemoglobin and Hematcrit  Good Luck.  It worked for me!
