Ladies I tested positive for the gene back in May. Since I am brca1 and triple negative I have decided to under-go a bilateral mast and hysterectomy. I will have the surgery on Monday at 8am. Please keep me and my family in your prayers. Some may feel as though this is drastic however I have a husband and a 6yr old daughter that I am determined to be around for! I am having immediate re-con by way of expanders. Is there anyone out there that has been tested or ungone any of the procedures listed above? I am most concerned about the lack of hormones missing at age 36.

Hi, Ro. I'll most definitely keep you in prayer regarding your upcoming surgery.

I tested negative for both genes but had a "mutation of unknown significance" show up. I'm four years into tamoxifen and am just starting to give thought to a oophorectomy after tamoxifen. I'm not triple negative, though...

I don't think your surgery decision is drastic at all. I completely understand the desire to get as much of a jump on this beast as possible. My son was 11 when I was diagnosed and my first thought after diagnosis was being around for him...

You'll probably be away from your computer for a while, but pleasse check in when you can to let us know how you are doing...

    Hugs and prayers!

    Hi rogram,

I had this test back in July and it was neg.  I have 2 daughters and 3 granddaughters and needed to know for me, and for them.  They still are at high risk because of my situation.

You and your family will certainly be in my prayers.

You are doing what is necessary for you, and this is what matters.  It is about you right now!!

Yes, please let us hear from you when you can.

    Stay strong ----Be Blessed.

    Hi Rogam,

You got it.  Massive, abundant prayers coming your way.

Two of my husband's sisters have tested positive for the BACA 2 gene.  I'm just sick to my stomach thinking about my two girls having to deal with this.  Do you have any recommendations for web sites for my research prior to scheduling an appointment with the specialist?

Someone suggested that we get their health and life insurance in order before we go any further.  We're working on getting them life issuance policies now because we know they will not be able to get them if they do test positive.  They are 21 and 24 and we hate to see them not have that protection for their future families.

Keep us posted on how you're doing  after your surgery.

    Hi Renee

That is so wise to think of Insurance for your daughters now.  There are so many problems with Insurance companies when a  person already has insurance--oh the changes they can take you through.

I will keep your daughters in prayer.  My daughters are 41 and 40 and I have 3 Granddaughters 19,17, and 7.  We can't leave out the guys--A son 31 and Grandson 20.  While my test was negative--it is always somewhere in my mind.

    Linda C.
