Son needs help for Mom with IBC
Hi - this person posted in another area so I took the liberty to copy his email to here. He posted a few hours ago and could really use some help. Here is his message: "Ok so here it goes. My mom has IBC and as i posted before the chemos aren't working due to what the doctor stats is he is he is fighting two battles the IBC and what i hear is called metastatic cancer to the chest wall.. My mom just got a plural catheter the other day. The lung doctor said that there are alot of tiny little cancer in the chest area and they are putting out this fluid and it needs to be drained everyday for a month. She has a in home nurse come to her house everyday to drain the fluid and to document the amount. Now the last two chemos haven't worked. The last one was way too strong it was killing to many white cells so she couldnt get her dosages every Friday. It has been three weeks since she has had chemo. Now her port got messed up and while she was in hospital Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday they had her on a floor that didnt work with cancer patients because they were full up on that floor. She didnt get the best treatment there on that floor. I am so upset. She needed to be on cancer floor the nurses from that floor came down to give her chemo when they found out her port was not working right. Are u kidding me so they send her home without chemo, without fixing her port. So now the best part, they tell a cancer patient that is depressed that hear is a number call Monday and set up an appointment to get port fixed. Why in the hell wouldnt they keep her an extra day and do what they need to do. It seems like they dont have feelings for the family memebers or my mom. It is hard to see our mom like this and if I was there at the hospital i would have asked these questions but i was at work and my sister was also so they half ass tell my mom stuff. So it has been three weeks of no chemo isnt IBC the most aggressive and while not having her chemo for three weeks and the other chemos not working and being consistent isnt that a sure sign of it to spread, why isnt her onocology doctor working faster he seems like he is goign at a snails pace while i am thinking the cancer is moving at a different pace spreading. Any insight anyone know if i can get more help i feel like when i talk to doctor he is just vauge about stuff.. example hey doc think we need another pet scan to se eif it has gone other places naw i dont think so not yet. Ok hey doc u think it has spread naw not yet but sometime it will. Ok hey doc thanks. I mean what the hell its been 9 weeks since they detected IBC she could have had it longer but detected chemo didnt help the fluid fluid got worse so they gave her new chemo that chemo didnt work now its been three weeks with no chemo someone tell me that cancer isnt spreading please tell me."
