Insurance refused Zometa treatment...

Hi BC friends-

I was wondering... has anyone found resources to help pay for preventitive treatments NOT approved by insurance.  My onco wants me to receive Zometa twice yearly for 3 years.  My bone density was normal, so that doesn't help at all.

We're tapped from medical copays and dental bills and everything.  Although I want to try these treatments regardless, I'd rather find the financial help if it exists out there.

My oncologist prescribed it as "prevention of ostoporosis after oophorectomy"  and it was approved.  Prevention of recurrence of bc will be a wonderful side effect I hope!

It really sounds like an exciting drug.  I just emailed Novartis to inquire of assistance directly through them.  Wish me luck!

I applied to Novartis for assistance and they approved me. I pay upfront $600 and then fax the reciept. They then mail me a check for $300. They cover the 50% of the cost. You onc should be able to help with the application, I just had to fax them my income tax assesment from the previous year. Good luck!
