I don't know if this is the right place to post.

My cousin's mother is 100 years old (well not until December 19). She has had untreated breast cancer for 9 years and it is now oozing through the skin.  Is there something that could be done for this other than just changing the bandages. For example, might radiation relieve some of the oozing....not radiation to cure, just to give her relief.   She lives in the UK so treatment is somewhat different there than in the US.

Thanks for your suggestions.

    Mandy,

I am not a medical professional by any means.  But from my knowledge and experience, there is such thing as radiation treatment to the skin for comfort reasons (not to cure).  I'm from Canada, but this should be available in the UK.

     Best of luck!

Thanks emegirl.  I'll call my cousin tomorrow and tell her.

Well I had good news this morning. I did a bit of research and even found a US radiation oncologist who had written in the area of palliative radiation for breast cancer.  He answered my inquiry saying that age should not be a problem for just palliative care. So my cousin phoned her mom's breast cancer nurse who thought that was a good idea and was going to arrange it.  Now why didn't the nurse come up with that in the first place?

In any event that 100th birthday will soon be here. I am so sorry that I can't fly in for the party they are having.

Thanks to you emegirl for your suggestion.
