My plan for the US economy...
My husband and I are on our way from Canada to help out our American friends! We will be spending 5 days eating and SHOPPING in the USA. I have no doubt that I can stimulate the service and retail industry if I put my mind to it. See you soon!

I am back home. I certainly did my job. The back seat of our truck was stuffed full of LL Bean, Bass etc bags. The customs agent just sent us through. Had I known he would do that I would have bought even more!! Oh well, we will be back!

Thanks for doing MORE THAN YOUR part, PIP!

Listen, ladies, there are going to be some incredible sales this holiday season with this wretched economy, so this might be a great time for a lot of us to stimulate the economy by getting some things we need & couldn't get unless they were on sale! Let's all do our part -- if we can! I'm in pretty good shape as long as I don't think about how much my retirement funds have lost!

Good grief, don't limit yourself by just getting things that you NEED!!! What is the fun in that?

Hey, ladies, here's some serious support for the economy -- & a true story. My car died this past Saturday after 10 years of faithful service & equally faithful maintenance on my part. It was, naturally, freakin' freezing out here that day, plus the sun was going down, so it was even colder. Pink, are you Canadians trying to send all your cold air to New England?? Anyway, I had just gotten in my car & started for home when a dash light I'd never seen before came on. I pulled over so I could look it up in my owner's manual, and of course it was one of those, "Do not continue to drive; contact your dealer immediately" kind of lights. So, as I'm reading about this, steam/smoke/unidentified white vapor starts coming out from under the hood, so I turn off the car. I call for a tow, & the tow driver feels so sorry for me, he buys me a coffee so my lips will stop turning blue. And I get to the dealer & the service department, who feel so bad, they lend me a car to use in the meantime. Then, two days later, I find out that basically, everything decided to break in the engine. I guess the car decided that 130k miles were enough. So, too expensive & not worth it to fix. And I bought a new car from them the day after that.
You can't say I'm not patriotic!

Okay, the hubby bought "us" a new HDTV today for Christmas. LOL I guess that qualifies as helping keep the economy going.
Did we need it? No. I was all prepared to use a converter box with our old Sony. The bright side of this is that we have been wanting to remodel in the LR and that huge, humongously heavy 36" TV in the huge, humongously heavy armoire was in the way. Now, my "kind of" nephew (girlfriend's 30 yo son whom we are fond of) gets the old TV and, hopefully, will take away the armoire, too.
Cannot wait to make decorating plans now. More help for the economy.
Congratulations, Kathi, on your new patriotic-mobile.

Not only have you boosted the economy, you have also recycled your old set. Good Job!!

Hey, Tina, can I come up & watch DVD's on your new TV??? I'll give you a ride in my new car!

Any day. You bring the popcorn.
