I had a thought that maybe it would be fun to have a "do you remember" thread...you know toys, games, songs, household goings on from when we were kids.....

The Wizard of Oz was on TV once a year!  I remember my brothers and sisters and I being SOOOOO excited.  My parents made a big deal of it for us too...my Dad would have a big fire going in the fireplace in the living room (there were no TV rooms then) and my mom would make us gingerbread and hot cocoa.....those were the days... to this DAY those flying monkeys creep me out!

Lifesavers and Wrigley's were a nickle a pack.

McDonalds when they opened in our area: 15 cent burger and 10 cents each for fries and coke!

Actually being ble to go to Rexall's and get a coke at the counter.

25 cents a gallon for gas!!!

Riding in the back window of the car...before seatbelt laws!

Banana seats, sissy bars and goose neck handlebars on bikes, pushing back on the pedals to brake, and one speed (unless you were going downhill!)    The "freedom" that the bike gave to roam as far as you could pedal.  Oh yeah, and letting your friend share the seat with one person steering and one pedaling!
