Gas price survey

LuAnn...I am in Northeast Ohio, near Akron/Medina. I filled up last night for $153.00. $1.37 is awesome!!
-
-
We finally dropped below $3. I saw $2.95 yesterday (Kailua-Kona, HI). A loaf of Roman Meal wheat bread is $5.69.
-
WOW!! $1.29 is cheap!!!! I thought I was doing good yesterday at $1.56.
-
$1.85 in upstate NY and I'm doing a happy dance. Might have to add a cartwheel if it got to $1.29...
-
Yesterday in Spokane Washington I saw $1.58 at Safeway (that's factoring in the 3 cent member discount, and membership is free). Most other gas stations were $1.61 - $1.69.
-
Felicia - I'm near Queensbury. I love to get my gas down that way, 'cuz it's always cheaper than up here in the hills...$1.86, I think, I paid this week.
-
We are at 1.69 in the suburbs of Chicago -- Filled the car up for less than $20 -- whoo hoo!!!!
-
There are quite a few stations here in east-central Alabama that are now at or below $1.50/gal for regular gas.

Just bought gas in Central Coast area of CA for $1.69 per gallon--with 7 cent discount if pay cash.
That's the lowest I've seen.
However, the prices of foods (other than local which are really cheap right now) have not dropped one iota. And I heard on the news that some manufacturers are using this rise in gas costs to retool their plants; putting less in smaller boxes and keeping the same price. That's happened before in this country as I recall. Remember when candy bars were much bigger and less expensive? The consumers will be bled a little more than at the gas pump. Now it's cheaper to get my bread at the local bakery.
-
Gas is now down to $1.25 in Roanoke Va. about 45 minutes from my home. Here in my town it is $1.46.
$20.00 fill up is so much better. And our truck was around $80.00 per fill up. But food seems to be off the map.
-
It's a trade off....lower gas...higher food!
I paid 1.44 the other day...nice!
-
I don't agree that it's a trade-off. If gas goes up it takes more to get foodstuffs where they have to go, so of course, food is more expensive. But when the cost of gas goes down, the cost of our food is never lowered!
I buy local now. fruit, veges, bread, etc. I get either at my local grocers or at a small business. I stopped buying cereal and grain products. I buy milk brought in from local dairy. In my small way I am boycotting paying outrageous costs for what I need to survive. Have even found local chicken and other meats available. The big box stores are driving our small local businesses out of business. It's frustrating!
-
Grace, there's an article about the box stores/chain stores ...talks about how "they" push our "I am a smart consumer with shopping options" buttons when we should be fighting that with our "I am an engaged citizen" button ... This war of a community with independant business vs chain stores has been going on since the 30's ... ".....chains threatened democracy by undermining local economic independence and community self-determination. As they drove out the local merchant -- a "loyal and energetic type of citizen"-- the chains replaced him with a manager, a "transient," who was discouraged from independent thought and community involvement, and who served as "merely a representative of a non-resident group of stockholders who pay him according to his ability to line their pockets with silver."

Same here in Ohio Dejaboo! In one night, it went up 30cents!
Grace...I didn't mean literally that food and gas were a trade off...just figuratively. Just that as soon as we are saving on gas...we are spending more on food.
-
Rural east TN.==1.39---of course, they charge more to bring it UP the mountain! LOL
-
Filled up the Acura AND the Jeep Wrangler today for $50 in Oregon , at $1.65 a gallon here in Oregon. Food is lower as well. I have noticed many price drops at our local Winco grocery store. I have to say I NEVER would have predicted gas EVER going bellow $2 a gallon. I can't remember prices being this low since the 90s.
-
On the rise here, and food is still high.
-
$2.04 here in California
-
Glad to see Ca down in price....It took long enough.
-
$1.89 regular in NY
-
We're still around $1.79 a little further upstate, NS...
-

heh heh- I haven't forgotten!
-
Probably not, G. Too cold to open the sunroof, LOL...
-
Gas is back up to $1.79 here in Virginia.
I hope it will soon come to a stand still.
