Large lump on upper shoulder blade

I found a large (2"-3" round) lump last night on my upper shoulder blade last night.  It isn't painful and seems to have appeared out of nowhere.  I may just be over-reacting, but anything out of the ordinary these days throws me into a panic--could this be cancerous?  I am having a right mastectomy tomorrow and will ask my surgeon what she thinks it is, but thought I'd throw this out there for any thoughts?  I have had 4 rounds of Cisplatin and 3 of Avastin prior to the surgery (the last Cisplatin was on October 8).  Could having gone a month with no chemo let this happen???

I am so very, very sorry you have to have this new thing to be concerned about when you're ready to go into surgery. Obviously, I can't tell you what the lump is, but I can tell you that Avastin can cause all sorts of skin problems, including boils and diffuse acne. Could this be something like that? No matter what happens, be sure to point the lump out to your surgeon before the operation. It could also be a fatty lump, or any number of harmless things.

Sh**... Marly I do not want to hear of you having any problems.  I am sending you very special prayer's until we hear from you again.  I setup up a reminder to pray for you all day tomorrow. 

Please God,...Hold my special friend close and let this be some weird side effect from treatment. Something like... dead cancer cells wanting out.  Is this area warm to the touch? My local recurrences could felt warm and itchy.  But THIS IS NOT what you having going on.

 I went to see my primary care physician and she seems to think it is lipoma, which is a benign, fatty tumor.  She also called my surgeon and spoke with her nurse who also thinks that's what it is.  My surgeon will look at it tomorrow before surgery.

It does give me some peace of mind, but until I hear for sure that it isn't cancer I will be worried--I've got a long road of being worried, I guess.  But it's good to have women like you to "talk" to

"Just a fatty tumor" sounds WONDERFUL!!!!!  Isn't it funny how we get excited over things like this ~ but it's true, it IS exciting when something that is scary can turn out to be "just" something else.  I'll be thinking of you tomorrow & wishing you a very easy surgery & speedy recovery.  Hugs,

No, really, a lipoma or fatty tumor is nothing! My dad was plagued with them all his life -- they'd pop up here and there, often overnight, and then they'd simply stay. As FlaLady says, we're praying this is ALL it is -- a silly, stupid, lipoma. I'm sure that's what it is!

I'm home from surgery and all went well.  My surgeon said she couldn't even find the tumor, the neo-chemo had "melted" it away--YAY!  She did remove some axillay nodes and I should know in about 7-10 days what the official pathology is.  It's pretty weird to see that empty space where there used to be a breast . . . kind of sad, but I'm glad it's gone.  My surgeon also thought the lump on my shoulder blade is a lipoma.

Anyway, a month out of work, then I start up chemo again.  I don't feel too bad right now, just a little pain where the drains are.  My husband is great; taking care of me and everything around the house.  I am lucky to have him and the rest of my loving family and friends, as well as you wonderful women on this site

I just had a lump removed from my collar bone. It appeared out of the blue too.

It was totally benign.

We are allowed to get lumps that are nothing! I pray yours is the same.

I so glad you are doing find and the tumor was gone! I do believe it harder seeing that one lone breast, than having them both removed.  Let's continue to pray that your nodes are negative and you heal quickly.
