What to do with new, curly hair
I always had very straight hair. A lot of hairs, but each was fine. Now, I have curly hair.
Can anyone recommend any styling sugggestions while it continues to grow out? Any sites showing good cuts for short, curly hair?

I hear you sister.....I had bone straight hair and now 7 mths post chemo, I have a full head of very curly hair. I am extremely grateful I have hair mind you. What I do is use lots of water and gel to calm it down. I have yet to go to my hairstyles for a cut, but I think it 's time for a small ( very small) trim. After going without hair, I'm a little scissor shy.

After I finished chemo, when my hair came in, it was CURLY! I have always had straight hair. I have been LOVING that curl!! It's been over a year since I finished tx, and my hair has grown out, but even though the ends are kind of wavy(curly), the new growth is ALL STRAIGHT : - (
If I go and get my hair cut, I am afraid that it will be TOTALLY STRAIGHT again!!

Hi Ladies,
The only thing I can say is embrace the curls! They're very easy but here are some general tips: do not brush your hair...just comb it out with your fingers (wet or dry) otherwise you'll have a full on head of frizz! I use Infusium 23 leave in conditioner and let it air dry. If you decide to cut it, don't let them use a razor, only scissors because the razor can cause the hair to frizz and split. Moisturing shampoos are generally good because curly hair tends to be a bit on the dry side. As far as cuts for short hair, most times if it's too short, it'll look just wavy and depending on the cut, it may not be a good thing. You may want to go to someone in your area that specializes in cutting curly hair and she whay they suggest. Best of luck! Curls rock!

{{Maura}} Here's to hoping you get hair and soon!
Nancy, I use a phyto organic product that's called 'Ominstyler designing liquid' that I just love. Like you ladies, I had extremely straight long hair for years and have never had to 'style' it, so it was all new to me. I did go into to have the lady that trimmed my hair and used to color on occasion show me what to do and trim it when it got down to where it was just over my ears. She trimmed very little off the ear area and back neck, as well as trimmed the flyers that were taking off. I had areas behind my ears that looked like wings, and she trimmed them. Then showed me how to use this styling liquid on damp hair. Worked so great, I love it! It does give a little 'wet' look, so after it completey dries, I pick it out lightly and it then no longer looks wet, but soft and managed, but stays that way all day! I love it! And if you mess it up later in the day, you dampen your hands and restyle it, great stuff!

My hairdresser persuaded me to just let it grow without any shaping for about 8 months and it looked gorgeous. Honestly, yours may not need any help!
I'm about 1.5 years out from chemo and my hair is past my shoulders, has been trimmed (just the ends) once, cut about an inch with some shaping once and recently trimmed only on the bottom about 1.5 inches. It is finally losing its curl towards the roots and I am thinking of a perm to bring it back! I always had "bendy" hair but not curly and I have just loved it.
Don't spoil your hair with too much intervention, is my advice. Just love it!
