Juicing for BC?????

Since my dx I keep reading a lot about the healing powers of juicing -- especially fresh green juices, kale, spinach, etc. ... apparently the more the better. Is there any truth to this or are people just trying to make themselves feel better ... regain a sense of control. I read in some medical journal, that while nutrition is important (especially in terms of avoiding obesity) it only contributes 5% to the overall development or prevention of cancer. What is your take on this?

If you juice, how much? Can one overdo it?

I'm juicing 2-3 times a day.  The greens are supposed to be especially beneficial because of all the chloroform they contain.  There was a nobel prize winner back in the 30's and I can never remember his name, but his findings indicate that cancer cells thrive in anaerobic conditions.  So anything to increase your oxygen levels at the cellular level is considered a good thing.  Thus, as I understand it, the chloroform from plants is beneficial in boosting our oxygen levels.

I can only surmise that this is true because I feel a whole lot better after drinking juice.  I feel like my body is a dry sponge and the juice is absorbing nearly instantly into my thirsty cells.  Doesn't last nearly long enough, though, as I still suffer from fatigue.  As for overdoing it, your body will tell you.  I drink a mix with a lot of citrus.  Sometimes when I juice 3 times, I feel really great.  Usually, though, my stomach feels acidy.

If you're new to juicing, the greens are going to taste bitter.  Try carrot juice, or carrot/apple, or carrot/celery.  It will taste delicious eventually, if not the very first time.

Oh, ya ... I forgot to ask: what is a good juicing routine that is compatible with a work life?

Oh my GOD!!!!!Throw out those medical journals! Working and juicing might be tough. Juice in the morning, before lunch go to a juice place and get a double shot of wheatgrass, then juice in the evening, after work. That's what I did, in addition to some other alt stuff. Acai is fabulous, and so good for you. You can buy it in frozen packets at your healthfood store. Great with bananas, strawberries and rasberries or blueberries

Acai is also great with green tea!  I make green tea in a large mug and add about 4 oz of acai berry w/blueberry to my tea; it's delicious and full of antioxidents too.

I juice a couple different greens and a small amount of fruit with flax seed.  I blend it in a high speed blender and not through a juicer.  This way the juice is good for 24 hours.   But it is best drank immedately.  I drink about 64 oz of juice each day.  I have learned to enjoy it each day. You can Google veggie juices and find a lot of recipes.

EWB: Try a Kitchenaid blender; I make smoothies every day for more than a decade now and that blender is powerful so the smoothie is indeed smooth.

Green smoothies are great. I blend 1-2 bananas, half a Romaine lettuce, juice of 2 oranges together, and usually a bit of water and drink it immediately. Tastes great, very energising and filling. If you can, use organic produce.
