Copy of pathology report?

Options

My mom has stage IV breast cancer and the only reason I know that is because it is in her lymphnodes, lung, liver, bones, and bone marrow.  No one has ever used the words "stage IV" with me.  Her oncologist never really gives a whole lot of information, it's like pulling teeth.  My question is, can I ask for a copy of her pathology report?  will they give it to me?  I think I could get more information from it than from her oncologist...  sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm just frustrated with doctors..

Your mother is entitled to a copy of her report.  You may or may not have a problem getting one depending if you've filled out the right forms.  If you're not an authorized person on her HIPPA form they might not give you one.  In dealing with my uncle's Dr.'s some were very willing to talk with me concerning his health and others it was like pulling teeth, even though all had been given the ok to discuss his situation with me.

Certainly Mom can get a copy though.

Is it possible your mother doens't want you know this info?  If she does not mind or wants you to have it, then she can ask for copies of everything you need, no problems.
