I am so scared. I get my port this Thursday and start 12 weeks of Taxol/Herceptin on Friday (11/7). I would love to know how yall are doing with this.

Don't be scared. It is not fun by any means, but no need to be scared. I had a much stronger chemo 4 times before this that was so much worse. I am dealing with fatigue and some sleepness nights. I had tingling in my hands and feet, but am taking vitamin B6 and B12 per doc's recommendation. That has done away with the majority of the tingling. I do have occasional problems with bloating, gas, and diarrhea. Don't forget though, everyone reacts differently.

I finished my Taxol/Herceptin treatment the beginning of Aug. and still have tingling in my feet. I went to my medical doctor yesterday because the first three fingers on my right hand feel like they have pins and needles (always), she told me it could be neuropathy or a late side effect from the chemo. Have to have a blood test to check my B12 level-doing that next week.---Cathie, I also had harder chemo before this--4 treatments of Adrym and Cytox.
Does anyone know how long the side effects last?

I am using supplements and detox pads on my feet in between treatments to try to get the chemo out of my body as quickly as possible. I have 2 left!!!!

CristlC, I have had 8 Taxol treatments and have 4 more to go. In the beginning it wasn't too bad compared with the A/C. Now near the end I'm feeling tired and my fingernails are tender...kind of like I hit them with a hammer! I found that taking the supplement Melatonin (10 mg) has been a lifesaver in that I am able to get a good night's sleep....except on tx night! I haven't had any nausea or other weird stuff...
everyone's journey is different, but I thought I'd share my experience. The neuropathy can last a while after treatment. I have found accupuncture and reiki to be very helpful.
Trust your body, trust your self...YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!

I have been off Taxol and Herceptin since July. Christi, Don't be scared. Herceptin is supposed to be a miracle for us Her2 girlies.
I have spoken to a number of people who have experienced the same thing I have. Achy joints. I started working out just before the treatments ended and that has helped. I understand it could be quite some time for the joint pain to go away. Keep yourself as active as possible. Eat properly (I mean PROPERLY) Keep away from the dairy and meat. the diet is critical here.
I was a raging bitch during my treatments, because of the steroid.
I think that side effect is looooong lasting...haha
