zometa

Options

wasn't sure where to post this. I have finished chemo and rads. Now doing just herceptin evy 3 wks. My doctor keeps pushing me to get zometa . She says it will be 2 treatments a year for 3 years. I have already told her my concerns about the side effects. Especially the jaw necrosis, as I have already problems with my teeth. She suggested I speak to a special doctor who says that this side effect is overblown. I am post-menopausal and am er- pr-. I have not seen any studys done for women in my catagory. I do have osteoporosis. But so did my grandmother , and she never fractured anything. Really am starting to have difficulty with this decision. Would apprediate any feedback.

I don't have the study but have read that the risk of necrosis is proving to be much lower than initially thought.  I have been getting Zometa once a month since January with no problems so far, I do have a bone met though.
