3 years today!
Three years ago today I had my last chemo treatment. Three years ago today, I could barely get out of bed and was on narcotics for the pain for almost a week after the infusion. (Yes, I was one of the lucky few that had a terrible reaction to the taxol.) What I really love, is that in many ways it seems like a lifetime ago, and today, I can honestly say I feel strong and whole again.
OK, well, there is some lingering neuropathy, lymphedema and bone/joint pain, but the chemo brain helps me forget about it!
And hey, I'm almost 3 1/2 years from dx date - woo hoo!

Awesome! Congratulations on your 3 yr. anniversary!
I'm also a TN sista set to have my lumpectomy & lymph node removal next week. I'm 1/2 done w/chemo. This last TX kicked my butt but my tumor is gone and so is my lymph gland.
Wishing you continued health & happiness,
Jeannine

WooHooo!
You rock! Feeling strong and whole again is massively better than the narcotics and pain. Celebrate!

Jeannine - what great news, and I love your picture, the smiles are so bright. Good luck with your surgery, I had a lump, then a re-excision and SNB, and finally a full AND. (Kind of wish I had switched over to Dana Farber when the result of the lump was cancer, as I would only have had 2 surgeries, not 3, but hindsight is 20/20 I guess.) In any event, I hope your surgery goes well, and that the rest of the chemo is manageable for you.
Lisa - thanks friend, I look for your beautiful pictures every time I log on, they give me such a sense of peace, and sometimes I even recognize them! (I'm from the Northeast :-)

PS. Have my consult for PBM next week, but with surgeon, not PS, who is the one I'm really interested in talking to. Like I'm going to question the surgeon on how he does the mast? LOL Hello? I was a psych major, I pretty much have to believe he knows what he's doing!

Super congratulations to you.
I was under the impression that the '3 years' calculation is from Dx time. Did not realise it was from the time you finish Tx.....I was anxiously waiting for this Dec (to finish two years from Dx).....but now I have to wait till July to reach the two year mark :-(

We are all whoo hoooooing with 'ya! I can't wait until I can say the same!
What do we count the 3 years from? The dx? The last chemo? Or the last radiation treatment? I guess I could count them all and celebrate each one

Dani - just posted on your anniversary thread - too funny!
FlaLady - yes, it's amazing how our stories impact each other here isn't it? We pull together for our sisters in need, and we are uplifted by our sisters who are doing well. There was a conversation about this elsewhere, but I do think that primarily being a woman's disease, bc survivors are an incredibly nurturing and supportive group.
Holly - thanks, and I love your picture!
Ren - I never know either, I guess for me the last chemo was so huge, that it sticks in my mind. Technically, I think the official anniversary date is from dx date, not end of treatment. So I was a 3 year survivor in May 2005. I would definitely say you're at the 2 year mark in December - congrats girl!
Kay - I'm a big whoohoooer, so right back atcha!
And yes, for all of us, many, many anniversaries to come!!!!

Thank you Colleen!
Hearing positive uplifting stories such as your is SUCH an inspiration. This chemo is STILL nauseating me but NOT defeating me!
Thank you for the warm wishes for my surgery. I just found out why I need to be there 4 hours early for pre-op... 2 surgeries! After all I've been through already, it'll be a breeze...
God Bless,
Jeannine
