Tell me what you think of my TATTOO
This is a gift to me from me to celebrate my life being back to "almost normal" since breast cancer took over my thoughts is Dec/04
I have wanted to get a tattoo for quite some time now and today I got the nerve to do it.
I designed it myself and it is in the middle of my back near the end of my neck.
I love it!

Wow - I think you are talented to design that! It is very pretty and you are brave! Did it hurt a lot?
It's great that you did it for yourself and you are pleased!

Do you have a Larger picture you can link us too? Id love to see the detail.
Someday I hope to get one- a Pink Ribbon entwined through a heart that has a hole in it...
Wow, almost 4 years- Way to go!

It didn't hurt too much Amy, just in certain spots near a bone and the coloring in was a bit painful, worth it though.
I'm not sure how to link to the larger picture Pam, I will ask my son when he gets home from hockey practise. Your tattoo sounds beautiful too.
Best wishes, Tina

Are you going to have the hole stitched up on the tat?

I will probably leave it open. Im not sure exactly what I have for my vision of this tattoo. I used to draw well- but cant anymore. Or id start playing around with ideas.
Tina let us know if your son helps you get a larger picture posted.

Both look great!!! I'm planning on getting deconstructed in December and am thinking of ideas for a tattoo for the new flat side. Any suggestions?
Have a good night.

Oh, wow. I love them. Getting rads tattoos hurt so much I can't even imagine getting a real one, but seeing those...tempting.

Dragonlady, if you send me a photo of your tatto I will post it for you. Or to do it yourself you upload it to photobucket, when you want to insert a picture click the little box that looks like a tree. You copy and paste the 2nd link under your photobucket picture on the line in the box that requests the link and say ok, BAM you have your picture posted.
I was thinking of starting a thread like this. Some of my bc friends recently had bc tatoos and I was seriously considering doing one. Me the conservative type person that never ever wanted a tatoo but I have been seeing such pretty bc one. Anyone, can someone show me some cool ones with ideas of where I should put it. I'd like it to be seen but I just don't know where is a good place. come on help me get with it ladies! LOL

Great tattoos, Ladies! I have a pink ribbon on my right shoulder. I got mine right after rads (much to my rad onc's dismay!).
-
Amazing designs! Just beautiful, all of you! Congrats---on the tats and surviving!
-
This is my weary guardian angel I got a couple of months ago. It's on my right forearm...
-
Both Tatoos look great.

I am also thinking of getting a tattoo. I am currently receiving chemo, taxotere, and will have to wait until done. I was thinking of getting the pink ribbon on my right should and having warrior under the ribbon or maybe through it. I consider myself a warrior and not a survivor even though I am one I just like warrior better. I will probably also look at the Ford Warrior emblem to see what each symbol represents and consider incorporating that in there also. I like many others never consider doing this but now I think I will even though I am turned 50 this year.

Just a little fyi - I have several tattoos and the one thing pathology did comment on with my lymph node was that it had tattoo ink in it
-
checkum, I didn't understand your post.
If you do a search of pink ribbon tattoo (I think that is what I did) and I found alot of nice ones!
-
Tina: Hi to you. Haven't talked to you in quite a while. The tatoo is absolutely beautiful. Good one for you.
Nicki
-
I love it!
-
I like them both.

Hi, LuAnn,
Our lymph nodes gather and trap toxins from our body that are picked up from among our cells by the lymph system. (That's what our nodes are trying to do when we find cancer cells in them.) Tattoo ink gets trapped in our nodes because our body considers it foreign matter, and it will show up on pathology.
The best place for a tattoo after breast cancer treatment would be NOT anywhere in the affected arm, back or chest/breast, as those areas are susceptible to lymphedema. The risk of infection in those areas is heightened, and infection can be a trigger for the swelling of lymphedema to develop. An ankle or the opposite shoulder would be a reasonable choice.
Be well!

All of your tattoos are gorgeous!!! I love tattoos and have 3 of my own: a tiny rose on my right pelvic bone, a magnolia on my left shoulder that got fried during rads and had to be re-done so I had it enlarged and elaborated upon, and a tribal butterfly across by lower back. For those considering one with a bc theme, check out these pink ribbon designs:
