Tears out of no where
I've been thinking about getting my hair trimmed, just to neaten it up. I tried to make an appointment yesterday. This would have been the first haircut since November 2007 when I lost it all due to chemo. I say 'would have been' because everytime I thought about getting my hair cut I started crying.
What the heck?
I realize I'm not yet returned to the peak of health. I've had a rough ride with complications from chemo then from surgery and infections. But no one was forcing me into getting a hair cut.
What's with the tears and how do I make them stop?

I'm sorry. Take it as it comes. I think of haircuts as my therapy. Got one cut to neaten things up after chemo, now have three years of gorgeous crazy hair which I enjoy very much--who would have thunk it? I think of tears as cleansing--let them rip. There is no right way to do this--just take your next right step. Hang in there.
Take care,
--Hattie

I had tears when I lost, but when mine came in so curly and some were so much longer than the rest, I went in for a trim. I told my lady, Very little trim! She was sweet, and didn't charge me, b/c it wasn't much of a trim. I found out later, it was b/c her mother had lost her battle years ago to BC. I felt horrible after that. But since I've gotten trimmed again and it feels so much better getting that fuzz cut of the ends
You can do it. Have your cry and then just do it! Just tell them it's your first since losing it to chemo and you want a minor trim first time. You'll feel better the second go round. Promise!

I think I understand what you are going through. Losing my hair, and I had very long curly hair, wasn't as traumatic as I thought, but the first hair cut! Oh my, I was more nauseated than with chemo. I went with someone I trust and admire very much. Although not a close friend, she pretty much held my hand. Then we went shopping, we ran into others from work and we all bought silly rings - to wear Mondays. Although we don't wear them anymore, I have kept my ring as a reminder of the kindness of that person on that day.
I hope it goes well for you.

Yep, I can remember that, not only did I get a trim, I dyed it red, talk about different. Since it has grown out and have cut all the red off and it is gray now and I like it better gray. My son loved the red. Cry, then have some fun with it. It really does look better after the first fuzzy ends are off. You will feel better and your hair will be healthier. gentle hugs. sherry
