Sodium Flouride PET Bone Scans

I was at a meeting this weekend where one of the physicians said Sodium-Flouride (NaF-18) PETbone scans were vastly superior to regular Nuc med bone scans and that patients were being done a disservice by not having these scans.
I have seen them and they are amazing.You can see bone mets much earlier and far more clearly.
Right now Medicare won't cover them. Has anyone had experience with getting one of these scans covered? Did your insurance pay?
