TAXOL RASH! HELP!
Hi
I know there is another post about a rash but I am not sure what sort of chemo she is on. I am specifically on Taxol - my first treatment after 4 AC treatments - and my first week I had lots of aches and pains and my second week I gradually got a rash. Today it took over my entire body and it itches like crazy. My doc is talking about about switching me to Taxotere? Did this happen to anyone else? Did you switch? Was it better? Or did your doc just give additional meds? Which ones?? Did anything make it go away???? I got Benedryl and steroids in my port just before the treatment but that was it. I took some benedryl today to help with itching. I really look pathetic. Bald, bloated and covered in a rash - even on my fingertips. I am not very happy right now.

I had a rash on my arms and hands from the taxol too. I originally thought it was from Avastin but it went away after I completed the taxol.

PattifromEncinitas,
Sorry to hear your having such a problem with Taxol resulting in a rash. I am probably the person you are referenced in your post. I had the red rash along with sftfemme65 who replied to your post, we both received A/C (4) and then Taxol (12) through trial E5103. Out of about 16 woman on this drug combination only sftfemme65 and me developed the rash, now you make three.
Taxotere is know to cause the same rash, more prevalent than with Taxol although both drugs from the same family. My Onc responded to my rash with decreasing the dosage of Taxol and missing one dosage, moved it out one week. The rash did get better but never disappeared, although my rash never itched just there from fingertips to shoulder. I tried many home and over the counter remedies but nothing worked, best result came after putting chamomile tea on the rash.
The rash did eventually go away, about 6 weeks after completing the Taxol.
How many more Taxol treatments do you have to go?

I was also on 4AC. I just had my 1st Taxol treatment about a week ago when I suddenly woke up with a rash on the back of my hands, thighs, legs. Becuase I have a low platelet count to begin with my Onc warned me if I had red dots appear to call right away. This can indicate dangerously low platelet counts and may cause internal bleeding. This ocurred on a saturday and the doctor on call told me to go to my local ER. This was a lovely experience. It took 5 hours to let me know my platelets were fine.
I wish I saw this post before I darted to the ER.
I love this site.
