Veronicar :)  Everyone has an endometrial stripe.  The thickness of it is what they measure when they do the TV/US.  Did they say what it measured?  Or what they were looking for? I know for those who are post menopausal, it is normally less than 4-5 mm.

Also, you should have a trans vag u/s on the 4th or 5th day of your period for the best results.

Tamox can cause a thickening though.  What did your GYN say about the results?

Tamoxifen will cause the endometrial stripe to be thicker, and the acceptable range is higher if you are taking it.  I am post menopausal- was not taking anything and it was 7mm. (should be <4-5 like wishiwere said) I had the US because I had some post menopausal bleeding. This happened shortly after my mastectomy. They did a bx and a hysteroscopy. Everything turned out normal. I was thinking the surgery caused an estrogen surge- but all my doctors said they never heard of that. I believe with Tamoxifen, there is an increased risk of Uterine/endometrial cancer, and so they watch the endometrial stripe. If it is out of range for your situation, then they may do a bx.
