DigPink: Penn Volleyball Breast Cancer Research-10/25

Options
To help support the fight against breast cancer, the University of Pennsylvania women's volleyball team will host a Dig Pink match against Dartmouth on Friday, October 24, 2008 at 7pm in the Palestra gym in Philadelphia, PA.  Dig Pink is the Breast Cancer awareness rally being held all of October 2008 by the volleyball community. A large statement is going to be made by holding hundreds, potentially thousands, of featured High School and College matches across the country to help educate and raise funds to eradicate this terrible disease.  Proceeds will be distributed among research teams focused on target therapies and molecular profiling as well as "living with cancer" organizations nationwide.

We would like for everyone to come out and show their support by wearing pink since the players, coaches and referees will all be sporting pink. Both teams will have warm-up shirts that will also be available for the public to purchase, with all proceeds going to the cause.  We will be recognizing and celebrating the breast cancer survivors who attend this event.

The head coach of the Penn Women's Volleyball team, Kerry Major Carr, has just recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.  Although she started planning this event before she was diagnosed, she not be able to be on the sideline with her team for this event, due to recovery from breast surgery.  However, she is expected to make a full recovery because of the early detection.

More info on the event can be found on the DigPink website at:
