Hi GreenMonkey,
So Sorry to hear you got bad news. There's still a chance it could be benign though, right? I will pray that is benign. Did you ever get a surgery date?
My surgeon informed me that because my DCIS is right behind my nipple that it would have to be removed. Also he said my incision would start on one side of the breast and go horizontally through the nipple to the other side and that it would be larger than i expected. Plus he wants to do a sentinel node biopsy too. I'm also worried that when they open me up there will be more issues.
-
Wow, GM....cancer, the gift that just keeps on giving! Hopefully your new found mass will be another one of those things that MRI's pick up that are not life threatening and B9. Sending positive thoughts your way.
-
Thanks 1openheart,
I did find out that for the blue dye they mix lidocaine in with the dye so hopefully it won't be too painful! As far as other injections, i am still checking to see if they will use lidocaine with them. Sometimes I feel like I'm being a baby about the pain factor, but I just feel if there is any way to make things easier and less painless then why not? Plus I've had two "c"sections so I am no stranger to pain, and don't need anymore. lol
-
Well got the news that they are NOT giving me lidocaine or anything before the injections the day before. I was told that there is just a quick sting and then it's over with. So now don't know what i should do. They said that the lidocaine is not added because it would interfere with the test. But the article I read says not true! Getting depressed

just got my date - March 1st.
-
oh.... I didn't see any responses because it went to the next page. I was so sad about the new "suspicious mass" and then when I heard nothing from anyone on this thread afterwards I felt so... extra sad. but tonight I realize there was another page. SILLY ME.
-
Worried...try not to worry too much about the SNB injections. It does hurt some, but it is over really quickly. And quite honestly, there will be other things during this journey that might hurt more. It is an important test. Just try not to tense up and take a lot of deep breaths. I'll be thinking of you.
Green...glad that you have your date set and that it is not too far away. Plenty of time to prepare your mind, body and home. I hope that the new mass turns out to be nothing but a worry.

Hello,I had a mamo done last week,so today I
-
GreenMonkey, I see you have your date so thinking of you.

Hello,I had a mamo done last week,it showed I have microcalcification. clusters, and a ultrasoundok I was freaking out quietly to myself...and I came upon this website....today I had my biopsy done today...on my right breast, while waiting for the Dr to come in the room,I looked at my report, and when seen it I really kinda of freaked out,in it I seen that there is two irregular shaped solid masses...I think it said it was 5mm I didn't get the rest of the measurements,I requested the report ,she said they will send it to me, the Dr told me the microcalcification clusters is right next to the masses...and I have microcalcification clusters in my left breast.....so I as the Dr does the masse looks like cancer he said its concerning....its a blessing kinda I didn't know about it....and thanks GreenMonkey for the tip about the nerve pill...it work!! LOL
-
Hello gabsbaba,
Sounds like because mammograms are getting better at picking up calcifications there are so many women in the same boat. I hope your masses are benign!
I have an aunt who had DCIS when she was 78. She had a lumpectomy, radiation and tamoxifen and is still cancer free at 88. I'm hoping that is how my situation ends, but we will see. In the meantime I will worry, cause that's my personality.lol What nerve pill are you taking?
-
Hi Worriedsickinpa,I'm a newbie here, great news about your aunt, you will beat this just like your aunt did. As for the nerve pill I took it to do the biopsy,I can tell you it was painless...I dint take nerve pills..lol
-
Ok I had my biopsy done on 2/21...and I got the copies of the mammo and US....I know the results from the biopsys will be in soon,I kinds have issues going on in both breasts, in both breast its BI-RADS CAT 4,I will try to keep it short and sweet lol.the mammo showed suspicious clustered calcifications extending over 7mm in the outer center right breasted. Other slightly more loosely grouped calcifications are Suspicious adjacent solid masses at 9:30 right breast....on the US study showe9:30,5.0 cm from the nipple:7mm irregular solid mass with apparent punctate calcifications is seen. Immediately adjacent to this closer to the nipple, is a separate 6 mm irregular solid mass. Both sites are suspicious.....ill take any input...lol it looks kinda bad....I hadn't had a mammo in five years
-
I'm kinda nerves about this, I was telling this person whom I don't really know, but I was buying somthing from her,she said her mom had cancer, she had it removed..so no biggie, then she went in to say..I'm not the frist or the last...she was a little rude to me..but God Bless het anyway...I bought a pair of what I thought was 14 kt. gold earrings...but it turned out to be 9 kt...well now since she was rude to me I will be returning them back to her....to easy to be nice..but she wasn't..LOL
-
Hi Gabs, I have issues with both breasts as well! I don't have any words of wisdom because I'm still digesting all this. I've got 5 mm DCIS in right breast and a "suspicious 6mm mass" behind it. My left breast has ADH. I'm having a bilateral mastectomy on 3/1. I spoke to my doctor today and clarified that there will be lydocaine injected with the dye when they do the SNB and they'll use a numbing cream AND they'll give me a sedative of some sort to calm me. I hate sounding so frail but the truth is that I am.

Your only human Green,my prayers are with you,you made what be a very hard choice..to have a BM,your plate is full,God will bless you with courage..<3</p>

Hi Ladies, I just got back from Dr appt..I am very happy to say results wer b9:) fibrocystic change with rare microfoci of microcalcification.. The Drs were complete assholes!! The pain i feel in my lymph node has nothing to do wit the calcif he said ... he also said cancer doesnt hurt. well the resident finally felt my node and it is enlarged and painful...he reluctantly offered me an ultrasound but for the next month no caffeine or choclate and lower salt in take.. They just so didnt want to be bothered...and on top of all that I had to go ask when they would see me basiclly they totally forgot about me...They could have mailed me a letter!!!!!....my lymph nodes were glowing on the films i saw at my biopsy...and the pain I have is real I know my body and this is not normal for me.. the resident seemd so perplexed by the fact that they showed up at all.. he was sooo annoying!!.so anyway You all were amazing to me and I thank you for all the advice and support...

Hey it looks like I'm in the club....jinvasive ductal carcinoma just got the news today.
-
Laura- glad that your results were B9, but the other thing is really weird isn't it? So how did you leave it? US in one month after diet changes? Sorry that the docs were not helpful. Hopefully all will be well when you finally get some answers.
Tammy- so sorry to hear about your dx. First step on many to come. Lots to questions to ask and information to absorb and process. Hugs coming your way! Take care.
-
Yes it is openheart,I know nothing yet,as to the stage,or what lays ahead of me,I'm just quietly freaking out to myself right now,I will be posting it all, when I know everything,I did want to join this club,at least I can have others like myself here.....now my journey begins....one step at a time..thanks for the hugs...Xoxo
-
Laura,
Lymph nodes have been known to enlarge and feel sore from something as simple as a virus that has passed through and wasn't strong enough to make you sick, but affected your lymph nodes. I know this because my daughter has had occurences of this. I hope this is all it is for you!
Gabs,
Sorry to hear your results were not benign, but hopefully it is still in early phases. I would rather not be in this club, but I am glad that if I have to go through this, I do have others who understand and can offer words of encouragement!
-
Congratulations Kennelmon, be well, be happy
I am happy for you!
Gabs, its soul shacking, isn't it.
I know for all of us, we will get through this but I have reached a new level of ...... exhaustion.
I have made a complete about face and switched my doctors. Hard decision to make but in the end I chose to focus on my cancer and NOT cosmetics. So... I'm going to Sloan Kettering hospital, having a bilateral mastectomy, giving up my nipples and not doing the direct to implants - instead doing the standard extenders. I'm not happy about this but in the end I'm trying really hard to focus on being cancer free. but I feel so beat up.
-
Green Monkey,
It sounds like you have hit the wall..I remember that feeling. It does get better. I hope that soon you will come to feel at peace with your decision and can celebrate being alive and cancer free. Take care, try to get some rest and let us know how you are doing.
-
Worried me either, bit here I am,for me one step at a timr,Hey Green you have to do what's best for you one can't be always worried about it coming back, and Green it does feel like I hit a wall, I will be posting on here,I have a few days, before I get back to the doctors, who will be part of my life now. ..thanks Ladies for taking thfe time to talk to me (((Hugs)))
-
Green, yes it is soul shacking.....
-
Tammy I am very sorry for your diagnosis..You are in a good place here with these women You are in my thoughts and prayers...
1openheart..I will wait for the US date I have gone many mo without coffee in the past so this shouldnt be a problem He said tho that if after a mo off caffeine choc etc and if the pain goes away i can cancell the US .. I know it will be ok..hopefully the diet change will do it thank you all:)
-
Hi I am sorry for all of our fear and pain...May I ask you how painful your stereotactic biopsy was...I am so afraid of needles...can't they give you an iv sedation
-
Hi scardecat,
I can tell you that at the breast imaging center where i had my stereo biopsy done they were very caring and sensitive to my fear. They gave me lidocaine and i didnt feel any pain. They told me not to take asprin before the biopsy but i have also read that you shouldnt take ibuprofen either which i take a lot so i think thats y i had a lot of bruising. You may want to inquire how the procedure is done at you facility to put ur mind at ease. I hope it goes well for u and u have b9 results!
