I'm new here. I have to say that this website is so helpful. I'm a nurse and never even heard of IBC. I came here when I noticed my right breast was suddenly swollen/full.My mammo/US were negative. I requested a MRI. It showed increased enhancement in both breasts, but more so in the right. No skin thickening or masses. Does anyone know what increased enhancement means? The radiologist seems to think it is hormone related, so I had those levels drawn yesterday. My Dr. said she may refer me to a breast specialist if my hormones come back normal. I want to see one regardless. I live in Portland, OR and was wondering if anyone knows of any specialists in this area or websites that would help.

You might want to check on Ibcsupport.org,  Many of ladies there are well versed of imaging,  also you will probably find someone from the portland area who will know who to see.  Good luck

Bailey - I started a reply the other day and then got called away. This is my first chance back, so I apologize. I first learned about IBC from my best friend in college - we're grads from Eugene. Who knew I'd join the club so many yrs later!!  Anyway, you should probably ask your MD for a referral to a breast specialist in the Breast Center up 'on the hill' there. My friend was treated there, but had additional help from Fred Hutchinson up in Seattle. Remember, even if this just turns out to be an imbalance, you need the experts on your side NOW. If this doesn't work, PM me. I have another friend who's a NP at a woman's health clinic up on the hill and maybe she could pass along a few names?  Thinking good thoughts that you'll get the answers you seek.

Thank you for your responses. I am going to see a breast specialist today though Providence. A few of the nurses I work with recommended her. I appeciate you taking the time to respond!
