Bruise that won't go away

Has anyone ever had IBC misdiagnosed as a staph infection? four Month ago had a lump that looked a lot like an insect bite on the underside of breast. I went to my GP and he diagnosed it as a staph infection however he did not take a culture. He prescribed antibibotics, I went back a few times because the infection did not go away after the first 10days. He prescribed another 10 days of anitbiotics. I ended up seeing my husbands Dr. when I developed an allergic reaction to the antibiotics she tried to culture the lump but could not get any fluid out of it. She prescribed another anitbiotic that I took for about 14 days. The lump went away however I still had bruise the size of a quarter.  She sent me for a baseline mammargram and an ultrasound to rule out IBC. They both came back negative. It has been several months and the bruise is still there. Recently it started changing from the blueish color to a red again. I also have the small bright red cherry pin point dots that have recently developed on the breast. Sometimes have sharp pains in the breast. Is this something I should follow up on. Looking for some advice

It is something to follow up on.  The baseline mammogram and ultrasound would not show IBC, or at least normally would not show it.  IBC is almost always misdiagnosed as infection.  You might want to see dermatologist.  A skin punch bx is a simple procedure that could test the skin for "tumor emboli" in lymphatic chanels.  So please follow up, IBC is not something to mess with.
