I am praying someone on this board is from michigan or knows where in Michigan I can find a place that does fittings and does them well!  I'm a year out of unimast and finding I'd like to be able to dress with out worry about what 'others' think.  Up till now I really didn't care, but the time has come to care :(

So....I've searched high and low and the only is one in midland at the hospital which I was not at all impressed with when my family was given a extra large cami with extra large stuffers while I was in surgery recovery.  They told the women I was built like dd who's 125 lbs wet 5'5 with 34A breast.  And I guess they thought the Xlg would cover us all?  Geepers, how depressing to go home in that! I actually never wore it home.  Put it on after much a-do in the room and then begged dd to get it off me!  It has been in a bag since.

So...I need some good bras and good prothesis, but most importantly, I need someone in the know at a shop that can fit me! I've never been a bra-wearer off times, only when absolutely needed when working.

Does anyone know of a good fitter in michigan? I'll travel if needed, but need it badly! PLEASE??????

Good luck wishiwere, you just described me. 5'5, 120-125 lbs ( used to be less) and I thought I was a 34A. I have a prosthesis, but I don't wear it unless I really need it to make my clothes sit right. I have the smallest size they make ( or so I've been told) and after 6 months they found a bra that sort of works- but it's a 32 AA . I go without when possible, but that's not really comfortable anymore- not sure if it's in my head or a result of radiation. Let me know what you find, but I now find the whole fitting thing depressing

That's the problem, finding a fitter at all!  I have no idea where to even start. I did find a nordstroms everyone talked about but the lady I spoke with said they don't even carry 'those things' meaning prothesis and such! :( I was so bummed. I figured a city with over 1/4 million people and many major hospitals would have more to offer :(

    Hi Wishiwere,

I live in michigan and used to do fittings.Do you want a customized one that is molded to your chest or they have many that are off the shelf but many different styles. The company I worked for is in Jackson and one of my best friends does fittings (She is very nice and very good )  let me know if Jackson is too far and I can find out where else for you to go.Most any Medical equitment companies can do them but some fitters are better than others. Let me know what city you are in and I can call our Rep for the protheisis and get a good fitters name for you.  Debk55

Thanks deb.  If I had to go to Jackson, I can swing it.  It's about 2 hours or so, I think, but GR was and 1 1/2 or more, so I can do that!  Does she work somewhere, or out of her home? I'm pretty open to time also, but was hoping for wed this week if it's that far as dd works till 3 and she'd be going with me if it's a ways just for company.

I'll pm you my address also.
