Are you taking tylenol? My doc told me to take tylenol right before the Neulasta shot and then for 3 days after.. and I can honestly tell u I had one little twinge of pain in my ribs and that was it.
On a good note though, he also told me that if you do get bone pain it means the shot is working!
Good luck and I hope u feel better. Drink DRINK DRINK DRINK LOTS O'WATER!

You are experiencing a double-whammy here, Genia. You had the 'feel good' effects of the steroid (decadron or dexamthasone included with your infusion) wear off and the Neulasta effects kick in at the same time. No wonder you feel beat up. Neulasta is a stimulator of the WBC-producing areas in your bones, so many women experience pain or aches. The variation is wide in the amount of pain. What can you do? Anything from a hot bath with epsom salts, Ibuprofen, narcotics, go to bed with a good book and an Ativan, chocolate in vast quantities, etc. Fortunately, the Neulasta pain is short-lived for most.
Hope you have some relief soon!

Talk to your doctors as soon as you can and get help. I was amazed at how quickly the right medication worked to alleviate symptoms. Each of us is different. There is no need to suffer. In most instances they could figure out how to alleviate the bad syptoms.

I called my Dr......and they called me something in for the nausea. I'm feeling a little better now......still aching some.....but I can tolerate THIS........just not the other. I was really hurting earlier..........
Thanks again......you guys are sucha big help

I took vicodin for the bone pain..
I had neupogen and then they lowered the dose to half..it still worked but the pain was minimal..
-
I wish I HAD some vicodin.......I would sure take it!!!! I can't believe the only thing they said I could take was TYLENOL.........that is not cuttin it........ugh!!! I have some Darvocet.....but I don't know if that is safe to take. I know they told me I couldn't take Ibuprofen or Aspirin.......so I don't know about the Darvocet.

Genia, I've been on your exact same carousel, thankfully this week will be my last! The pain from the neulasta, hot on the heels of the dexed-up sleeplessness AND THEN the dex-crash (depression) makes it a pretty shite week, but it does end! My onc recommended Neurofen (ibuprofen) for the pain but double the dose. I stupidly toughed it out the first time because I was mindful of my poor old liver..but I didn't make that mistake again and it does work. Why can't you use it? Walking (a-r-r-g-g-h-h) is great and drink! Drink! Drink!

Did you take a claritin? I have had three TXs of TCH and gotten the Neulasta the next day. Each time, I took a claritin for three nights after the shot. I never experienced the bone pain that you might get from the shot. Try it!! I read that on this board, and my nurse recommended it.
Good luck!

I took ibuprofen and I did one dose of percocet, and I have fibromyalgia, which this shot does not help! The pain will lessen, try to move around even if it's in small burst, night time is a whole new animal! This was my first treatment, 9/18 and my shot was on the 19th, it as lingered in my system till today, it is the first day that I feel normal! I will not do this shot again, I had all the bad side effects and will not subject my body thru that again! So, with that being said, be aware of your symtoms and keep a log for the next time! I hope you feel better soon!

Did you get a prescription for Ativan? It is good with the nausea and helps you sleep at night. I am now on rads and am still taking it to get a good night's sleep. I was told I could take what I wanted during chemo, including Advil and Aleve. FYI - I had worse pain on the Taxol and on day 4 really needed something and just laid in bed most of the afternoon. Day 5 I was perfectly fine to go to work.
-
Well I slept pretty good last night........but I did take some Ativan.........AND they called me in some Zofran and Compazine (sp ck). But here I am.........5:00 am........and I'm up!
This is OH SO MUCH FUN!!!! Sorry gotta try to keep my sense of humor.......that's all I have control over right now!!!

Kerry.......
I don't know why I can't use Ibuprofen........all the paperwork they gave me said no Ibuprofen or aspirin.........so I'm not sure unless it's because of bleeding or something! Tylenol SURE doesn't make much difference..........might as well just take water!
-
Can I take the Zofran and the Compazine together? One says every 6 hours the other says every 8 hours.........
-
Misty........yes I did take Claritan.......started it before I went in for my shot!!! I think I might feel a little better today.......so far anyway!!!! Still wondering what in the world I'm doin up this early.........lol
-
Going back in to the Dr. today. I have diarrhea sooooo bad I can't make it to the bathroom now. I thought it was gettin better yesterday........but today it's bad again.........even WORSE. They are afraid I am dehydrating........so he wanted to check me out!
hugssssssss will let ya know something later.......

So sorry you're having such a hard time. I know everyone is different, and reacts differently but my onco had me take Zyrtec (10 mg) twice a day for 5 days starting the day of the Neulasta shot and my bone pain was bad only one day and Tylenol took care of it. My onco also said I could take Aleve if I needed it. I don't know about Zophran and Compazine together, but my doc gave me ativan and phenergan and said I could go ahead and take the other one if the first one didn't work and didn't have to wait the 4 - 6 hours. I had diarrhea too, and took Imodium. The onco gave me a prescription for Lomotril, but I didn't need it. It certainly made me feel better to have it, though.
Good luck - hope the doc can help get you straightened out!

Genia - I can't offer any new advice, but when I read your post it made me cry remembering what I went through and now seeing you suffer it. I will pray for you to feel better quickly. I can tell you that I was able to handle each succeeding treatment a little bit better... Hugs and Prayers your way.

Thank you Laura and Kathy.......I'm feelin better now.

Genia - I had terrible se from the neulasta, one of the "less than 5% with severe bone pain", although my onc recommended advil before the first shot, she prescribed either Darvocet or Percocet (I forget which) when she found out I had such intense pain. The bright side is the neulasta pain generally lasted less than 48 hours. The diarhhea is just a nightmare from hell, and nothing really helped me with that. The one thing I can offer you is that it is all a distant memory now, and I'm still here, 3 years later. Hang in there!
-
Thank you hun.....just keep reminding me......there is an end to this!!!!!
hugssssssss
-
Genia I hope you are feeling better.......Hang in there you WILL get through this. Whether you are on Zyrtic or Claritin, make sure you take it everyday.
I had the opposite problem.....chemo gave me constipation. Just make sure you keep your nurses and provder updateed on how you are feeling.

Thanks Kim........

I 've read on this site plenty of times that claritin can stop the bone pain, so try it for your next shot. In the meantime whatever works get for yourself to stop the pain, I'm sorry your going through this. All the best.
