arimidex and cholesterol

I've been on Arimidex for  11 months now and my current lipid panel showed a very high LDL (201) and total cholesterol levels(276). I exercise, I eat right but despite all my efforts my cholesterol is climbing up-obvious side effect of arimidex. It's very likely that I will go on cholesterol lowering drugs. Does anyone know if any of the statins reduce the effectiveness of Arimidex? I am also concerned about statins effect on liver. I remember  reading somewhere that one of the cholesterol lowering drugs causes cancer, but I can't remember which one. I know I need to think about my heart, but the last thing I need is to deal with cancer again!
