Chikara clothing
Hi girls,
My children and I participated in a fashion show last night for a breast cancer organization near us. We modeled a variety of clothes from local stores. I did not model any Chikara clothing but some women did. The clothing is a line made by a young (and very nice) designer for women who have had a single or double mast and who choose not to wear a prosth.
The clothing line is absolutely beautiful! I have seen pictures online of these clothes but when I saw them last night I was struck by how really, really beautiful they are! While the website shows the clothing actually seeing them and feeling them illustrated to me what a great product she has created.
Not only that but the designer was there and she was lovely. She is young and she has created a line of clothing that does not look like anything other than high fashion. I cannot say enough positive things about these. If you have not been to her website and you would like to the address is www.chikaradesign.com
I have no affiliation with the designer and just happened to be in the show so I got an up close look at her creations. Since I always pass along my fashion tips regarding bras I figured some of you might want to know about this too.

Hi Carol,
It's good to see your post. I hope you had a great summer.
That sounds like a fun event. I know about Chikara Designs and have been in contact with the designer. I've even posted a link to her site on BreastFree.org and she gives out postcards about BreastFree to her clients. She seems like a terrific woman and very energetic about promoting her designs and supporting breast cancer causes. I'm glad you liked the designs--they look great on the web but I haven't seen them in person.
How did your kids enjoy modeling?

Hi Barbara,
I am usually on bc.org more frequently but am filling in for a 2nd grade teacher. (I taught for years before I had kids). Anyway...yes, summer was good. Lots of traveling. My kids loved the modeling. My 11 year old was very hesitant but ended up liking it. My other two loved it.
Yes, the Chikara designer (hillary?) was so nice. I think the pictures on her website do not do the clothes justice.
I hope things are going well with you too. The good news about me working is that I spend very little time focusing on cancer and the fear of recurrence. The bad news is that I have no free time at all. Oh, and on the good side, at least this is a temporary position.

The Chikara clothes are very nice, though they're fairly pricey and target the uni-breasted woman rather than the no-breasted one. She had a booth at the Komen walk this weekend in New York.
